The following is a list of certified Backflow Prevention Device Testers who have registered with the Peterborough Utilities
Commission (PUC). Please contact these Registered Testers directly as they are not employed by the PUC.
Disclaimer: The PUC makes no representation regarding the abilities, performance or quality of service provided by the Registered
Testers listed below. Further, the PUC does not accept or assume any responsibilities for the performance or actions of these Testers.
Testers are required to submit proof of their certification as a tester of backflow devices issued by the AWWA, ASSE or approved
equivalent and a valid Certificate of Calibration of their test equipment on an annual basis. Only persons listed herein are permitted to
carry out functions required by the Cross Connection Control Program. Please refer to the functions noted below the list. You are
required to use your own judgement with respect to contracting with these Testers.

Master and Journeyman Plumbers certified as a tester are permitted to do all functions: surveys and testing, install, relocate or
replace and repair any type of backflow prevention device. Apprentice plumbers certified as a tester are permitted to do all
functions except carry out surveys.

A Fire System/Sprinkler Contractor certified as a tester is permitted to carry out surveys, testing, install, relocate, replace and
repair backflow prevention devices in respect of Fire Protection Systems only.

A lawn irrigation system installer certified as a tester may carry out testing of backflow prevention devices in respect of lawn
irrigation systems only. Note: The installation, relocation or replacement of a backflow prevention device for an irrigation
system can only be done by a master or journeyman plumber or an apprentice plumber working under the direct supervision of
a master plumber.
