YC issue date:
To be a junior, students must have completed two years of high school and have earned at least 10.0 credits toward
graduation at the completion of the sophomore year.
A Yellow Card allows 2nd semester juniors increased access to designated school locations (see below) and the opportunity
to leave school grounds during unassigned classes and during assigned lunch periods. Only businesses and restaurants
DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET from the high school are acceptable destinations during these times! Due to the
heavy traffic on Route 195, students should exercise extreme caution by using the crosswalks and lights when crossing.
ALL JUNIORS WILL BE EXPECTED TO SIGN-IN / SIGN-OUT and SHOW THEIR YELLOW CARD AT THE
LOBBY DESK UPON LEAVING/RE-ENTERING THE BUILDING.
In addition, juniors who qualify for open study periods and who have the beginning period(s) free on a given day are
permitted to arrive to school for their first scheduled class. It is the responsibility of the individual to sign in to school upon
entering and be on time for their first scheduled class each day. Also, juniors who qualify for open study periods may leave
school after completing their daily scheduled program. It is the responsibility of the individuals to sign out upon leaving
school. Students leaving school early must leave school grounds (unless under the supervision of a staff member) and not
return before 2:08 p.m. unless they have a scheduled meeting with a staff member.
During unassigned periods, a junior with Yellow Card privilege may access:
 The cafeteria
 The Library Media Center without an additional pass (sign-in required)
 Businesses directly across from the school (junior must sign out and in and show Yellow Card at front desk.)
 Weight Room or Cardio Room (if available with a supervising staff member)
Students must choose one of these designated destinations during the 5-minute transition time between academic
periods or lunch wave and must remain in the chosen location for the period.
At the discretion of the administration, juniors will be allowed to maintain earned Yellow Card status as long as all
disciplinary, academic and attendance guidelines are followed.
NOTE: Yellow Cards allow students to walk to the destinations listed above. Leaving school grounds during school
hours in an automobile, except as stipulated by the Late Arrival/Early Dismissal Privilege, is not permitted! Students
may not access other parts of the building or other classes without prior permission.
