Playing Time Policy
“Steel or Stone”
MHS Coyote Football is committed to building student athletes that KNOW:
1.
2.
3.
CHARACTER
LEADERSHIP
WINNING
Our Football Program will do this by building student athletes that are:
1.
2.
3.
Sharply Disciplined
Physically Fit
Masters of the Fundamentals
For this reason you will be expected to view your role in the football program like a job. Your duties &
responsibilities are similar to that of an employee. We always like to remind ourselves with the saying; “Know
your role, Do your job”
Playing time policy
1. This is a competitive sport in which many of our athletes have spent their entire life
preparing for. Most have endured extensive academic challenges and endless strength &
conditioning sessions to get to their senior year. Our investment is beyond what most
people can comprehend, therefore:
2. Playing time is a privilege. It is not a right. We will always do what is best for the team
and program first, keeping in mind what is best for each student athlete.
3. If you are looking for a participation sport this is not the place. This is a high-speed
collision sport where the biggest, fastest, strongest & toughest men in the world meet in
team “combat”. Only the best can be entrusted with our team’s hopes & dreams on friday
night. Be grateful that you are healthy enough to be on the team. Beyond that is all bonus
Steel versus Stone
1. How do you see yourself? As the steel, or as the stone. Both roles are equally important.
All of us will assume a “stone” role in many of our team’s operations…Some of us will
assume a “steel” role on Friday nights. Know your role, Do your job.
2. Your “stone” role is the true measure of your worth to a team. How well do you sharpen
your team? In what way do you support the program? How do you practice to make your
brothers better? How well do you cheer your teammates on? How well do you serve your
team in seemingly “meaningless” tasks?
3. You must be a man and assume responsibility for where you are. NEVER be a victim. Do
not pass blame. Look in the mirror and desire to be better. Your daily choices yesterday
have brought you to where you are today. Never hurt the team by being a complainer
