deconstruction coordinator - Resource Work Cooperative

RESOURCE WORK COOPERATIVE
Resource is a national leader in the waste minimisation industry, operating
Tasmania's largest reuse centre, the Resource Tip Shop, and Resource Collectables
at South Hobart. Resource is also aiming to consolidate and improve its eWaste
facility and establish a deconstruction recycled-demolition wing to the business.
Deconstruction (or “decon”) is a method of harvesting what is commonly
considered construction and demolition “waste” and reclaiming it into useful
building materials. This means the selective dismantlement of buildings (usually by
hand), specifically for re-use and recycling. Resource approaches this from “waste
hierarchy” principles with reuse being of highest priority but where not practicable
materials are recycled instead.
Resource seeks to work with the community to achieve viable, sustainable, bestpractice waste minimisation and quality service through continuous improvement of
the business and operations, complemented by innovative community education,
within a safe and satisfying work environment.
