Operation To install a FINCO release update.
Long Release updates may be installed via a diskette, flash drive or hard drive.
Description
Scenario 1: To install a release update via a diskette.
Scenario 2: To install a release update via a flash drive.
Scenario 3: To install a release update via the hard drive.
Operation Scenario 1: To install a release update via a diskette.
Steps
1. Insert the diskette into the computer. Go to Richouxassociates.com using Internet
Explorer. Using web browsers other than Internet Explorer, such as Firefox,
could cause problems.
2. Click on the Release link.
3. Click on the release update for the state needed. Ex: LA061508
4. Click on Run or Open twice.

5. In the WinRAR self-extracting archive window the Destination folder box will
display a: Click on the Install button. See Figure 1 below.

6. Insert the release update diskette into the server or client computer if not already
done.
7. Sign onto FINCO making sure all other users are signed out.
8. From the Main menu, choose 9 – Utilities and 6 – Install Release. Press the A key
then the Enter key. See Figure 2 below.

9. If problems occur with the installation then from the Main menu, choose 9 –
Utilities and 8 – Exit To Dos.
10. Type A:INSTALL A: then press the Enter key.

11. The message, ‘Finco release installation completed! Press any key to
continue …’ will be displayed with a successful release update install.
12. Press any key and check the FINCO version located at the top of the menu
screen.
Scenario 2: To install a release update via a flash drive. Note: Compatible
flash drive letters are D, E, F or Z. If the flash drive letter isn’t D, E, F or Z then follow
instructions in document WIN – 0030 How To Change Data Key Drive Letter
1. Insert the flash drive into the computer. Go to Richouxassociates.com using
Internet Explorer. Using web browsers other than Internet Explorer, such as
Firefox, could cause problems.
2. Click on the Release link.
3. Click on the release update for the state needed. Ex: LA061508
4. Click on Run or Open twice.
5. In the WinRAR self-extracting archive window the Destination folder box will
display a: Type the flash drive letter and a colon. Ex: F: Click on the Install button.
See Figure 1 below.

6. If the message, ‘Confirm file replacement. The file already exists.’ is displayed
then click on the Yes to All button to overwrite previous release update files.

7. If the error “X:” folder is not accessible or the flash drive letter isn’t known
then go to My Computer. Look for the letter next to Removable Disk,
Cruzer or whatever the flash drive media may be named. See Figure 2
below.

8. Once the correct flash drive letter is determined then repeat step 5 above.
9. Insert the flash drive into the server computer if not already done.
10. Sign onto FINCO making sure all other users are signed out.
11. From the Main Menu, choose 9 – Utilities and 6 – Install Release. Press the flash
drive letter key (compatible drive letters: D, E, F, or Z) such as F then press the Y
key. See Figure 3 below.

12. The message, ‘Finco release installation completed! Press any key to
continue …’ will be displayed with a successful release update install.
13. Press any key and check the FINCO version located at the top of the menu
screen.

Scenario 3: To install a release update via the hard drive.
1. If the server or client computer has internet access and a diskette or flash
drive is not accessible then the release update may be downloaded and
installed from the hard drive.
2. Go to Richouxassociates.com on the server or client computer using Internet
Explorer. Using web browsers other than Internet Explorer, such as Firefox,
could cause problems.
3. Click on the Release link.
4. Click on the release update for the state needed. Ex: LA061508
5. Click on Run or Open twice.
6. In the WinRAR self-extracting archive window type over a: with C:\ (backslash
under backspace key) and the release date in the destination box. Ex. C:\061508.

7. Click the Install button. This will create a folder named 061508 on the root of the
C drive.
8. Close Internet Explorer and sign onto FINCO making sure everyone else is signed
out of FINCO.
9. From the Main menu, choose 9 – Utilities and 8 – Exit to Dos.
10. Type C:\(the backslash under the backspace key) release date\(the backslash under
the backspace key) install a space and C:\ release date. Ex: C:\061508\INSTALL
(press the spacebar once) C:\061508 then press the Enter key.

11. The message, ‘Finco release installation completed! Press any key to
continue …’ will be displayed with a successful release update install.
12. Press any key and check the FINCO version located at the top of the menu
screen.
