VYBA Standard Liability Waiver, Risk Assumption, and Media Release Waiver
Applicable to Sailors, Parents, or Guardians, or other Family Members of Sailors
The VYBA Liability Waiver, Risk Assumption, and the VYBA Media Waiver as stated below,
apply to all Sailors, and to all Parents or Guardians other Family Members of Sailors for all programs
and events of Venice Youth Boating Association, Inc., including regattas in which VYBA is participating,
whether conducted here or at other locations.
Standard Liability Waiver
By registration of a Sailor, the registered Sailor, and the parent(s), grandparent(s), guardian(s),
or other family member(s) who may be completing the registration for a Sailor in a VYBA program
hereby agree:
1) To grant permission for the sailor being registered for any program of VYBA to participate in
the programs, sailing instruction, and in all regattas, here or away, involving the Venice Youth Boating
Association, including on the water training in bays or the Gulf of Mexico, in VYBA-owned boats, sailorowned boats, or boats, chartered by the VYBA.
2) To release the Venice Yacht Club, its Officers, and its Board of Directors, and VYBA, its
officers, its Board of Directors, and all VYBA’s employees from any liability in the event of injury or
accident, to the named individual Sailor, registered for any VYBA program, while on the premises of
Venice Yacht Club or any other property used by the VYBA for sailing instruction or during any
supervised sailing activity, including regattas in which VYBA is participating at any location.
3) To understand and acknowledge the inherent risks involved in any sailing program, and with
this understanding and knowledge, grant permission for the sailor being registered to participate in
VYBA’s programs.
Risk Assumption Waiver
I am aware that the activities of VYBA and the sailor I have registered to participate in VYBA’s
programs may involve maneuvering a boat, sailboard, or other watercraft in shallow or deep water in
potentially hazardous conditions which may include among other things, strong winds, high waves,
sudden and unexpected immersion in shallow or deep waters, and collision with other watercraft or
stationary objects such as docks, pilings, and buoys. With the knowledge of the dangers involved I
voluntarily have registered a child allowing that child to be allowed to take part in the activities of VYBA.
I accept any and all risks to me as the parent, grandparent, or guardian of the child being
registered and all risks to the child being registered of injury, death, and the property of VYBA and the
Venice Yacht Club whether or not caused by negligence or other actions.
Media Release Waiver
By registering a sailor for any program of the VYBA, permission is granted for VYBA to use the
registered sailor’s name and/or photos and/or videos for various media related publicity or other
projects associated with Venice Youth Boating Association, Inc.
Acknowledgment Requirement - Waivers
Agreement to the Standard Liability Waiver, Risk Assumption, and the Media Release Waiver is
required on the VYBA’s Registration Form at the time a sailor’s registration is submitted to VYBA.
Acknowledgment of the VYBA Code of Conduct Policy
Acknowledgment that VYBA Code of Conduct policy has been read and reviewed with a sailor
being registered is required at the time a sailor’s registration is submitted to VYBA.
