Volleyball Report
FIRST VI VOLLEYBALL
Over the weekend, the Volleyball Firsts played against St Pauls. The game was quite even,
with many long and dramatic exchanges of the ball. Our girls demonstrated great
volleyball skills, considering it was the first battle of the season. Unfortunately we lost 3 sets
to 0. By the last set, Canterbury only loosing with a few points. The team is gelling very well,
and are ready to take the rest of the season head on.
SECOND VI VOLLEYBALL
The Seconds volleyball team performed so well on the weekend despite some injuries and a
tough opposition. The girls showed great Canterbury spirit throughout the whole game and
were smiling from start to finish. Unfortunately St Pauls clinched in a win in 3 straight sets
but Canterbury made them work for every set with some nail biting final scores. Michaela
Edeling showed great passing technique and Nanaia Matangi had an incredibly powerful
and accurate serve. Juliana Azri and Raegan kept the team positive with constant
encouragement and enthusiasm. The girls should be proud of the way they conducted
themselves and their efforts against a very challenging team.
YEAR 9 VOLLEYBALL
The first round of the new season for the Year 9 Girls Volleyball team saw us matched
against a strong opponent in St Pauls. It was heartening to see our girls start so strongly with
a good win, with a score of two sets to one. The first two sets were characterised by
consistent serving from all the girls, however, it is worth mentioning that Madison Lloyd
played particularly well, given her limited experience from previous years. Other players
included Ling Luc, Monique Wisnewski, Kayla Watson, Chelsea Weaver, Niwa Matangi,
Danielle Noney, Lucy Pope and Abbey Dilks. We are lucky to have such a great group of
girls to build on as our season progresses. Next week…St Columbans – bring it on!
