Injection Molding Unit
This prefeasibility study will provide preliminary guidance to the loan beneficiary to setup a small Injection
Molding Unit for plastic parts manufacturing of firearms. There are about 68 SMEs fully functional in local
Peshawar cluster. About 100~150 assemblies are produced per month by each unit. The average total
assemblies produced in cluster per month is about 6800 to 10200 and demands higher quantity of small
parts for these assemblies.
Injection molding unit by nature is a mass production process with one time investment. The major cost of
installation is totally based on molding die and injection molding machine with a very lean maintenance
cost. The life of molding die ranges from 20,000 to 100,000 castings depending on material’s physical &
mechanical properties and working environment.
It is also specialized in producing prismatic, axisymmetric and other intricate profiled parts enriched with
engineering & sculptural features, relatively at a higher rate without disturbance in dimensional accuracy as
a factor cannot be ignored. Like grips, butt-stocks, fore-ends, picatinny rails, handgun frames and rear
sights etc. that are very difficult to be produced conventionally.
