Dear Parents and Caregivers
Your son/daughter has registered an interest in playing basketball for Belmont Intermediate School. The competition
is played on Monday nights and games are between approx 4.00pm and 8.30pm at the North Shore Events Centre
on Silverfield Lane, Glenfield or at AUT on Akoranga Drive. Competition starts on Monday 3rd March 2014. Draws will
be available on the Harbour Basketball website: www.harbourbasketball.co.nz
The cost for semester 1, (terms 1 & 2) is $125.00. This includes the Basketball New Zealand affiliation fee for
the whole year. Payment must be returned to school, with the fully completed return slip, by Tuesday
11th February 2013. It is school policy that payment must be received before a student can take part in
a sport.
Payment methods are cash, cheque, eftpos, credit card or direct banking. Payments by cash or cheque should be
placed into a school money envelope, with the fully completed slip, and put into the money box at the school office.
Contact the school office for payment by eftpos or credit card. Please advise me by email if you pay by direct
banking.
The completed slip must be returned for all methods of payment.

If your child will NOT be playing I would appreciate being informed – they can tell me at the sports office,
send an email or phone.
The students play in school basketball singlets (provided) and their school P.E. shorts. If other t.shirts are worn
underneath the singlet they must be navy blue. Harbour Basketball will not allow players to go on court
wearing incorrect uniform. Court shoes with white ankle socks will also be necessary. Singlets will not be
issued to players until payment has been received. Singlets must be returned to school when a player resigns
from basketball or at the end of the playing season. The school will invoice you $30.00 for non-returned singlets.
Trials will be held at school, on the basketball court, during lunchtimes. Year 7 boys trial is Thursday 20th
February, Year 8 boys trial is Friday 21st February. Girls trials will be advised. If required further trial dates
will be advised through the daily notices. Trials will be run by an independent, experienced trialist. The trialists
decision on team placement is final. Students will need sports shoes and socks and P.E. gear for trials.
We require coaches and managers for each basketball team and we ask for your assistance with this.
Without your support we will not be able to enter teams. Coaches or managers can arrange to use the TGS
gym for practice sessions either before or after school. Please contact me to arrange a time if required (please do
not go directly to TGS). The BIS courts can also be used during good weather.
It may be possible to pay for a coach from Harbour Basketball but there will be extra costs involved and can be
expensive. This option can be discussed as a team with team managers making the final decision and organising the
coach.
