Basketball Parent Meeting - Reading Community Schools

Basketball
Parent Meeting
2013-2014
Season
Program Philosophy
The Blue Devil basketball program will be built on the
development of character and teamwork through
emotional and physical improvement. Coaches will
model and expect a strong work ethic from each
player while providing positive discipline through
evaluation and communication. In addition to
developing enthusiasm for the game, players will
pursue academic excellence as they prepare for life
after graduation. Each member of the team will
commit to involvement in the overall life of Reading
High School and the representation of RHS through
community service.

Player Expectations
(Cont’d)
All participants are representatives and ambassadors
of our High School and must attempt to create and
leave a good impression wherever they are and
wherever they go.
Every player can make a definite contribution to team
success, but in different ways.
You have to play very, very, very hard.
Parent Expectations
Treat players, coaches, opponents, and officials with
respect and dignity.
Please keep comments from the sidelines
encouraging and/or complimentary.
Coaching basketball is to be done only by coaches
on staff. Please refrain from coaching or directing your
child or other players during all games and practices.
Parent Expectations
(Cont’d)
Parents should discuss player and/or team concerns
and problems directly with the head coach.
These discussions will not take place right before or
after a game.
A meeting should be scheduled. During the meeting,
playing time and comparisons to other players will not
be discussed.
** Remember, it is not always the five best players. It is
the five players that work together the best!
