Summer Reading Packet with Book List

Mann, Can You Read?!”
Ahhh... the highly anticipated summer break is finally upon us. Whether you’re traveling
miles away or relaxing together at home, it’s the ideal time for families to recharge and
reconnect.
Also, it’s a great time for students to read for the pure pleasure of it – without the pressure
of time constraints or looming assignments. Reading during the summer months is a great
way to increase fluency and sharpen previously learned literacy skills.
Conversely, those students who do not read can easily slip backward with
decreased reading proficiency.
In an effort to combat this “summer slide,” we encourage all rising 6th, 7th,
and 8th grade students to participate in Mann’s summer reading program.
Slide [slahyd](verb)
1. Decline or decrease
2. Slip or skid
