Packages can be booked online through the organizer or (space permitting) onsite at
registration. Advance bookings strongly recommended.
Public entries for the EWS will be available through an open lottery. Applications will be
accepted at http://www.enduroworldseries.com during a 48 hour period starting at
00:01 GMT January 25. Riders will be randomly drawn on January 28 for the available
spots – and the entries for the successful applicants will be automatically processed.
The unsuccessful applicants will be automatically added to the waitlist. Full entry details

CATEGORIES
Registration fees are refundable (less a 20 GBP administrative fee) up to 3 weeks prior
to the race. Cancellation request must be sent to [email protected] by
1159pm / 23:59 GMT April 21. Entries are not refundable after April 22. Registrations
are not transferable.

EWS uses December 31 2017 as the age calculation date.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Racers do not require a UCI racing license to compete.
Only competitors holding an EMBA membership will be seeded for the start and eligible
for Enduro World Series points and any associated Enduro World Series prize money or
overall titles. A rider must hold a valid EMBA membership prior to starting the race in
which they hope to win points. No points will be awarded retrospectively should a rider
purchase an EMBA membership after an event.

Approximately 5 hours per day.
Course elevation: approx. 4900 descending / 2200 climbing (total for both days)
Terrain type: Very diverse and unpredictable – ranging from super grippy to slimy, from
rocky to smooth and from steep to flat. The region is renowned for a diversity of terrain,
vegetation and landscape. The course will suit strong, all round riders.

SHUTTLES FOR TRAINING
DAYS
Organizers will be offering two different options during training – a basic uplift / transfer
from Machico to Montado or a more comprehensive Shuttle Plan
BASIC UPLIFT / TRANSFER PLAN
 transport from Machico (Race Village) to Montado (trail centre) (distance 40 minutes
by car)
 20€ for both days
 racers will train DAY ONE stages on Thursday and DAY TWO stages on Friday
 racers will need to pedal the transitions - basically do the normal race route
(approximately 1200 meters climbing each day).
SHUTTLE PLAN (recommended)
 price TBC and limited availability. Advance bookings strongly recommended.
 includes both transport from Machico (Race Village) to Montado (trail centre)
(distance 40 minutes by car) as well as shuttling of the race stages.
 some transitions can only be accessed by bike – but using the shuttle will
significantly limit the amount of climbing during training
 racers will train DAY ONE stages (Thursday) and DAY TWO stages (Friday)
 shuttles options include group or private (dedicated vehicle / driver, maximum 8,
free to mix teams or riders in one van in order to share costs.)
Course features a number of hard/substantial transfers – riders are strongly encourage
to book shuttle plan (above). Racers can also use their own personal or rental vehicles
to shuttle during training.
For the race days, all rider will be transported by bus from Machico to Montado.
PROTECTION RULES
TRAVEL /
TRANSPORTATION
CE approved full-face crash helmet and knee pads mandatory for race stages (both
during training and on race days). Open face helmet may be worn during the transition
stages.
Closest airport: Madeira / Funchal Airport (FNC)
TAP Portugal and Easy Jet offer direct service from Lisbon (LIS) to Madeira (FNC) about eight flight daily. There are also a few direct flights from some of the other main
European airports.
Flights to FNC will have limited cargo space – rider are urge to reserved bikes as soon as
you book their flights.
Airport Transfers
Organizers will offer airport transfers. Cost is 50€ per person including luggage/bike
boxes. Booking details will be available at : www.enduromadeiraislands.com (under

LODGING
Lodging should be booked as soon as possible due to the popular Flower Festival that is
happening concurrently in Madeira - high season.

Colors represent the distance between the accommodation and the Bike Festival
area. Green is walking distance; blue is about 15 - 20 minutes bike ride; red means
you’ll need to rental car.
Racers / teams are encouraged to stay in the “Green Zone” of Machico - (approximately
2 - 10 minutes walking or riding to the Race Village / Bike Festival).

ALTERNATIVE RIDING
ZONES and ACTIVITIES
Madeira organizers will be offering guided mountain bike tours from May 1-9 of the
other zones in Madeira (all EWS stages will be closed for riding during this period). The
Freeride Madeira guides and drivers are super experienced, flexible and know all the
routes and trails to save you time and energy before the competition. Guide service
essential as the trails are not clearly marked and the logistics are tricky, steep and
remote. Limited availability – advance reservations strongly recommended.
