awareness about a few charities we feel strongly
about. Tables will be present during Pirate Perils

How do you win?
Fancy yourself a Pirate?
Do you have what it takes to rise through the
ranks and become Park’s true Pirate Captain?
Join us on September 23 to prove it!
This fun, interactive field-day style event will
see students of every major and class working
together in a competition for $100!
How it works
After sign-up week (Aug. 22-26), 12 men and
12 women will be selected as contestants.
They’ll arrive at the Chapel Lawn at 12 PM and
be sorted into three crews. The crews will then
compete against each other in challenges.
The Perils
In order to be crowned the Pirate Captain, the
winning contestant must survive 20 challenges
designed to test their physical, mental, and
endurance capabilities. While Pillage challenges
offer cool prizes, the Mutiny challenges grant
the winners passage to the next round.
Commit Mutiny!
The team that loses a Mutiny challenge will
have to cast out one of its own members! So
make those connections early.
The only way to achieve the title of Pirate
Captain is to survive the Perils and Mutiny!
Earn the respect of your crew, overcome the
challenges, and outlast the competition.
While we won’t tell you the final Peril, we will
say it all comes down to your desire to win!
Twists, Turns, & Drama
To keep the contestants as well as the
audience on their toes, we have a few tricks
and game-changers up our sleeves that’ll
make players rethink their strategies.
Audience Participation
If you aren’t selected as a contestant, don’t fret.
While you may not be up for the $100 any
longer, you can still participate in the game and
walk away with some awesome prizes! Games,
activities, food, and raffles will be going on all
day long to ensure everyone has a great time!
How do I sign up?
Throughout Aug. 22-26, a sign-up table will be
present in the Thompson, Norrington, and
Underground common areas from 9am-1:30pm.
Every Park student is allowed one free entry a
day, $1 additional entries, and $1 a-person
group entries (max 4). Event attendance is free!
The main Pirate Perils event will pit the
contestants against 20 unique challenges, 12 of
which offer audience participation! Check out a
few of our favorites!
Got a taste for fashion? Contestants must race
to dress models from a variety of costumes
and hope to score well with the judges.
If you want to show you’re the next
Blackbeard, you’ve got to prove it with a
sword. That, or cash in an excuse to hit your
friends with foam!
A pirate’s wealth comes from what they can
get away with. Dropping precious cargo won’t
put you in the captain’s good graces.
Limitations?
Pirate Perils requires running, standing, and
other physical activity. If this might be a
problem for you, let us know ahead of time.
Participants must be 18 years or older.
We’ll leave this one to your imagination. Just
bring cash.
