The Cyprians’ Ball Flirtatious country dances and scandalous waltzes with the courtesans of Georgian London The Bay Area English Regency Dance Society (www.baers.org) requests the honour of your presence at our yearly Cyprians’ Ball. The theme is the Cyprians’ patroness herself, the Goddess Aphrodite (Venus to the Romans), who was born on the island of Cyprus. Our ball would re-create the annual ball that Cyprians put on in London when they shopped around for new protectors. For more saucy bits of Cyprian history, visit: http://baers.org/cyprians.html. Costumes are admired but not required. Regency wear would, of course, be true to the period. But this would also be a great opportunity to wear Greek and Roman attire. Gods and goddesses will be appropriately revered. Beginners are welcome. All dances are taught during the ball. You do not need to bring a partner. Our caller for the evening is the esteemed dance master Alan Winston with music provided by the inimitable Divertimento Dance Orchestra.
