Art – Room 105
This year you will be learning a variety of art skills
and how to use a variety of art materials.
To be successful in art, you need to always do
your best. All the work you do should represent
your best effort. Not all students are equally
talented, but I expect each student to do their
personal best.
ASSIGNMENTS
All assignments will be based on California State Content Standards for the Visual Arts.
Students will learn about various artists and styles of art from different time periods and cultures.
Projects will focus on artistic perception, creative expression, and developing skills in a variety of
art processes and materials.
GRADES
Grades will be based on the following:
 Completion of art assignments.
 Sketchbook, daily classroom work, and quizzes.
 Effort, behavior, attitude, and group & individual participation.
*** 50% = Classroom Participation, Work, and Effort
*** 50% = Art Projects (creativity, craftsmanship, effort, skill/ability)
GRADING SCALE
A = 100-90
B = 89-80
C = 79-70
D = 69-60
F = 59 or below
HOMEWORK
You will periodically be expected to research or collect materials from home. This will not be often,
but will affect your grade if you do not complete assignments.
All assignments should be completed in class. Each project will have a “due date” or a last day that
we will work on them in class. If the project is not finished by that day, it will be the students’
responsibility to complete the project on his/her own time and turn it in before the end of the
trimester. With the exception of a few assignments, all projects turned in before the end of the
trimester can still earn full credit.
To be successful in art, you need to always do your best. This class is set up so that any
student who completes and turns in all assignments and who puts forth their best effort on a
daily basis can earn at least a B, regardless of their talent.

Come to class on time and prepared. YOU MUST BRING A PENCIL TO CLASS EVERY DAY.
You must be in the classroom by the time the bell rings.
When coming into the classroom enter quietly. Place books and backpacks beneath your
table. Clean up and push in your chair at the end of the period.
If you need to use the bathroom or get a drink of water (class drinking fountain is off limits):
Ask-Sign out-Put on the vest (that is your pass)-Sign back in
Use your breaks wisely. If you are asking to leave the room too often you will owe some of
your break time.
The ART STORAGE room is OFF LIMITS!!
Art supplies are EXPENSIVE! Don’t waste them or abuse them. Responsible use and care of
materials, tools, and equipment is part of your grade.
If you are absent you must make up all work that is missed. It is the student’s responsibility
to check with the teacher and make sure all assignments are completed.
Use appropriate classroom voices and language. A little talking is fine, as long as you are not
distracting others and everyone is getting their work done.
Respect other people’s space. Please work at your assigned table, and in your own seat.
NEVER TOUCH ANYONE’S WORK! Ask before touching or using other people’s things.
