CMU-16-2555 Campus One Card Addendum 1 December 16, 2016 1. Is there a need on campus for the MAVcard to be accepted as a method of payment at vending machines on campus? If so, are there already credit card readers on the machines? How many vending machines are on campus would accept the MAVcard? The MAvcard currently has two declining balance purses: FLEX and MAVmoney. Flex money can be used at participating campus departments such as parking and library. MAVmoney is used for food service purchases only. Our soda vending machines are through Pepsi, currently does not accept either of these declining balance purses but do accept credit cards. Our other vending machines are supplied with Bookstore products and should be able to accept FLEX dollars. 2. Aside from cost, do you have a preference for a hosted or premise based solution? The solution must still meet requirements for integrating with other information systems (e.g. card access, Banner), information security, and performance. 3. Do you have any interest in exploring changes to your current access control vendor and or software as a part of this process? CMU is interested in improving the process of how data flows between the campus one card systems and access control software and would have an interest in understanding how changes could be advantageous to the University. However, this is not a goal of this particular RFP. 4. Who is your current MAVcard banking partner? Our incumbent banking partner is Wells Fargo. CMU is currently going through an RFP for Banking; award should take place sometime in the spring of 2017. 5. Please elaborate on your card use at parking meters on campus today and the involvement of the IAS system as it relates to technical interaction and requirements in support of the use of the card at parking meters. The parking meters accept both MAVcards (MAVmoney) and payment cards. The parking meters are cellular only, they do not directly connect to the University networks. MAVcards transactions are posted to the Nuvision campus center web server. 6. Do you prefer a mass re-carding of all individuals on campus to roll out the combination aptiQ smart card with mag stripe or to implement new cards gradually over the course of a few years as new cards are issued and old cards are replaced? If CMU awards the Banking RFP to a bank other than Wells Fargo, a mass re-carding will need to take place. If CMU decided to award Wells Fargo the Student Banking piece, a more gradual approach would be entertained but should not span longer than 1-2 years. 7. Will the banking partner which results from the current banking RFP be providing the future ID card stock and supplies or should we include that in our proposal in response to this request? If yes, please provide quantities initially required. It is unknown at this time what, if anything, the awarded bank will be providing. As requested please include this information in your proposal. As a base estimate we are looking at 11,000 cards. Please tell us based on your proposal how much ribbon and other supplies would be needed to produce 11,000 cards. 8. Do you prefer point of sale card readers to read magnetic stripe cards or aptiQ smart cards? Both, if possible. If we don’t do a mass re-carding and could only choose one, it would have to be mag stripe because not everyone would get a new smart card immediately. If we do a mass re-carding and everyone receives a smart card, we would like the campus POS to read smart cards. Please break down this cost differential in your proposal. 9. Do you provide patron receipts at your food service and other point of sale locations? Yes End Addendum #1
