Round 6 – First Win in Black Division to BJFC Under 13’s against Glen Iris! OVERALL SUMMARY - Captain Romney Markwick led the energetic Under 13’s team down onto T.H.King Oval at Glen Iris in beautiful, sun drenched conditions! 1ST QUARTER SUMMARY HIGHLIGHTS Most of the first quarter’s play was in Brunswick’s forward line but unfortunately this pressure didn’t convert to immediate results on the score board. It was virtually at the end of the first quarter when Glen Iris scored their first goal after sending the ball rapidly down the wing towards their goal. George Bournoxstis ran hard at the ball, Otis Styant-Browne displayed some hearty tackling during the quarter and was constantly trying to move the ball forward. Owen Dowsey in his first game back after injury demonstrated some real courage in tackling against Glen Iris! 2ND QUARTER SUMMARY HIGHLIGHTS Glen Iris had the run on the ball early in the 2nd quarter, quickly scoring 2 goals. Julian Oro and Ned Carrick rose to the challenge trying to push forward into the forward line – but unfortunately the huge effort resulted in one point being scored. A fantastic mark a little later on by Ewan Baulch led to a great piece of team work where the ball was passed through to Rom, James and then Otis who secured the very first goal for the day!! Not long after, Elijah Dwyer scored a goal as a result of some nifty passing of the ball from Rom to Sam Oborne and then onto Elijah! Tom Vaughan excelled in the ruck – really making a huge difference to Brunswick’s scoreboard. Brunswick scored 2 goals in this quarter, starting to close the gap against the opposition. At half time, coaches reiterated the need to win out of the centre, keep the play open and that those in the forward line really needed to stay in front of the opposition! 3RD QUARTER SUMMARY HIGHLIGHTS Within a minute or so of the start of the quarter, Ned Carrick kicked a goal for Brunswick giving the rest of the side a boost of much needed confidence! Ty Perdrisat supported by tackling hard on the flank and Owen Dowsey was very visible in trying to open up the game! Leo Suzuki was prevalent in this quarter, constantly in the frame trying to gain possession of the ball. James Gleeson scored a goal in the intense pressure between the two teams. Later on, Leo kicked through to Ewan Baulch who scored a goal towards the end of 3rd quarter – bringing the game into close contention with Brunswick only just in the lead! Pressure was now on for the last quarter! 2015-05-17_Round 6 Under 13 Match Report vs GlenIris (2).docx Page1 /2 4TH QUARTER SUMMARY HIGH LIGHTS Within the first minute, Julian Oro slammed home his goal for the day and caught Glen Iris off guard in the back line!
