DOCUMENTATION CONVENTIONS

The eyeglass symbol () indicates a field on which you can browse.

The star () indicates the system default for a field.
♦
To allow for the widest possible parameters when printing a report or performing a
function, accept the defaults for all of the parameter fields. To accept the defaults,
either escape through all the fields, or press [Enter] without specifying any values.
Generally, samples in the documentation are shown using the default values.
♦
Start and End parameters define the limits to a range of information you will print
on a report. If information does not appear on a report, it may be because the
information was excluded from the Start, End range.

For a detailed explanation on how maintenance screens function, refer to the Tour
Guide manual.

1 INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
The PKG-INSTALL module is designed to allow you to install any Prophet 21® Optional or Select Software
via a serial number, instead of using a separate tape to install the feature.
Before proceeding with these instructions, be sure to
Stop the system.
Run a Verify and the Job MISMATCH. For more information on these commands, refer to your
Prophet 21 Operator’s Manual.
Turn all units offline. For more information on turning your units offline, refer to the Operator’s Manual
Make a total copy of your system. For more information on creating a total copy, refer to the Operator’s
Manual.
After the total copy is made, keep the system stopped and turn all units online. For more information on
turning your units online, refer to the Operator’s Manual.
At Utility Command, press [Esc] to go to the Job prompt. Press [Enter] to log into the system and get to a
Job prompt or jump to box.

To install the Select Software, you need the shipping paper sent to you by Prophet 21. This shipping
paper contains a serial number which will be used in a later step.

Type PKG-INSTALL at the job prompt or jump to box to display the following screen.

direct catalog feature. All that is required is the serial number,
which is located on your shipping paper.

Enter the serial number that appears on the shipping paper sent by Prophet 21, and press [Enter].

If an incorrect serial number is entered, the following message appears:
** Invalid Serial Number! **
Retype the serial number from your shipping paper or contact the Prophet 21 Inside Sales
Department for assistance.

If the correct serial number is entered, the following screen appears:

To continue the installation of the Optional or Select Software, type Y and then press [Enter]. The
Optional or Select Software installation screen will appear.
To suspend the installation of the Optional or Select Software, type N and then press [Enter]. When
you are ready to resume the installation, type INSTALL at the job prompt or jump to box and press
[Enter]. The Optional or Select Software installation screen will appear.

When the installation has been successfully completed, remember to activate all terminals by entering
GO at the Utility Command prompt.

2 USING THE SOFTWARE
Promote volume buying by showing multiple quantities and price breaks all on one quotation.
The Multiple Quantities/Prices on Quotes Select Software offers easy entry of multiple quantities and prices for
items on quotes without re-specifying the item code. The item code and description of items with multiple
quantities and prices only appear once during quotation printing, with the individual quantities and prices listed
on separate lines below the item code.

During quotation item entry, a series of quantities and prices can be entered for an item on a quote without respecifying the item code.

The "S" for Same option enables you to enter a series of quantities and prices for an item without respecifying the item code.
Entering an S accepts the current item and automatically enters the same item again. The item code and
description fields are bypassed and you are prompted for the quantity. Once a quantity is entered, the item is
quickly recorded. The price (or any of the item information) may be edited from the FIELD prompt.
You can enter as many quantities and prices as you wish.
When the quotation prints, the item code and description appear once, with all the individual quantities and
prices listed on separate lines following the item information.
Note:
The "S" for Same option is included on all item entry screens (easy and detailed). However, it is not
available for assembly descriptive items or components.

appear once, with the individual quantities and prices listed on separate lines in the appropriate boxes on the
form.

If the same item code appears on a quotation in consecutive order, the item code and description only print for
the first quoted line item. Only the quantity and pricing information prints for any subsequent line items with
the same item code.
