19th September 2016 Dear Parents/Carers New Parents Evening – Wednesday 28th September 2016 We are delighted to welcome your child to our College and look forward to a partnership with you to support them to achieve their full potential. As the parents/carers of new students at King Edward College we would like to invite you to College to see a short presentation about the College procedures and to meet your daughter/son’s Personal Tutor. Please see the timetable below to check the location of the Personal Tutors. Please make sure you know the name of the relevant Personal Tutor so you meet the right person! Your son/daughter will be able to tell you this. Progress Manager Personal Tutor Gayle Page Mary Smith Joanne Schoonen –Steans Claire Muttock Kirsty Wilbore Kate Tomkinson Rachel Talbot Tricia Elliott Matthew Cox Michaela Griffin Karen Green Time Venue 6.30 pm Gym 6.30 pm N1 6.30 pm Library Senior Managers will be available in the Gym 7.00 – 7.30 pm for any queries Unfortunately on this particular occasion, space will be very limited. We would respectfully request that only one parent/carer attend. Students are encouraged to attend later events around academic progress but are asked NOT to attend on this occasion. The Personal Tutor is vital in monitoring the progress and development of each student. For two years, they will be the first point of contact for the student and yourselves. The purpose of this meeting is for us to explain what King Edward College expects from students and what students and their carers can expect from us. It will be an opportunity for us to answer any questions you may have about College procedures. The meeting is not expected to last more than half an hour. We would stress that it is not intended as a meeting where you will find out about the academic progress of your child. Another event is planned for October at which subject teachers will be available to discuss individual student’s progress. Members of the Senior Management Team will be present and happy to answer any further questions you might have after the formal part of the evening with the Tutor. The College has limited parking available; to avoid congestion in the area we would ask you to use town centre car parks. Sainsbury’s car park is free after 6 p.m. If you need to have a parking space reserved or are unable to climb stairs for reasons of disability please let us know. Please take a few minutes to read through the Guide for Parents which will be emailed to you. Also enclosed with this letter is your log in details for Parent Portal (year 12 only). This facility will enable you to see live data regarding your child’s attendance and regular online updates on their academic progress at King Edward’s.
