requires wood-framed exterior walls of
Type III construction to be fire-retardant
treated wood. Like many building

As part of the Flak Jacket protected family of products, Weyerhaeuser is excited to introduce
TimberStrand LSL with Flak Jacket FRT Protection for rim board applications. Flak Jacket FRT
coating provides an innovative, code evaluated, patent pending solution to specifiers that:
• Meets section 2303.2 "Fire-retardant-treated
wood" of the International Building Code as
demonstrated by complying with the guidelines
of ICC ES AC124.
• Factory applied coating with
quality control inspections vs.
a pressure treatment that affects
dimensional stability
• No reduction to design properties,
including fastener values
• Non-corrosive to fasteners, hangers,
and connections

with extended ASTM E84 fire test
