NEWCASTLE CRUISING YACHT CLUB & LAKE MACQUARIE YACHT CLUB COMBINED OFFSHORE POINTSCORE 2016-2017 NOTICE OF RACE 1 Lake Macquarie Yacht Club (LMYC) and Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club (NCYC) invite entries from seagoing yachts in a Combined Ocean Pointscore (COP) to be sailed over the 2016-2017 sailing season pursuant to the following Notice of Race (NOR) provisions: 1. RULES 1.1. Racing will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the Australian Sailing (AS) prescriptions, the Special Regulations of Australian Sailing and the Sailing Instructions and Race Specific Appendices to the Sailing Instructions. 1.2. The International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea replace the RRS between official sunset and official sunrise. 2. ELIGIBILITY 2.1. Entry is invited from self-righting monohull yachts registered at a yacht club affiliated with an Australian State Yachting Association. 2.2. Yachts shall hold a current, audited Equipment Compliance form indicating a compliance with at least Category 4 of the Special Regulations except for COP race 3. Non-series entrants in COP Race 3 will be permitted to sail in the appropriate Division using NCYC Cat 7 PLUS requirements provided the condition in NOR 2.2.1 is met. 2.2.1. NCYC may, at its sole discretion, deny race entry to a boat meeting Category 7 PLUS SR if forecast wind is likely to exceed 21 knots and / or the significant wave height exceeds 4 metres. 2.3. The nominated helmsperson(s) shall be members of Australian Sailing and a Full Sailing Member of LMYC or NCYC. 2.4. Yachts shall be covered by a third party insurance policy in the sum of at least $10 million. 3. ENTRY 3.1. Yachts having entered the Ocean Pointscore series of either the LMYC or NCYC will be considered automatic entrants in the COP. No additional entry fee is required from these yachts. 3.2. Yachts not entered either club’s Ocean Pointscore may enter the COP by lodging the attached Entry Form together with all necessary documentation and an entry fee of $200 at either LMYC or NCYC by 1700hrs Monday 14th November 2016. 3.3. Casual entry into any of the six races may be made by completing and lodging the Entry Form together with a fee of $40 per race. Entry forms are available at LMYC and/or via NCYC ‘s website 2 4. RACE DOCUMENTATION 1.1 It is envisaged that Sailing Instructions will be issued for the COP by 14th November 2016. An appendix for each COP Race with specific details regarding that race will be located at the rear of the Sailing Instructions. 5.1. The Sailing Instructions will be posted on the clubs’ websites. 6. LMYC - http://www.lmyc.com.au/site/sailing-instructions NCYC - http://www.ncyc.net.au/sailing/ncyc-club-racing/ COURSES 6.1. The courses that may be sailed will be indicated in the Appendices to the Sailing Instructions. 7. RACE RESULTS 7.1. Racing shall be in one division only. 7.2. Race results shall be calculated using arbitrary Time Correction Factors (TCF) determined by the handicappers of LMYC and NCYC. 7.3. Each finishing boat shall have her elapsed time multiplied by her TCF to determine her corrected time. The fastest corrected time shall be declared the winner. 7.4. Race results shall be posted on the club websites. 7.5. Casual entrants may be scored a position in a race but will not affect the COP. 8. SCORING 8.1. Six races are scheduled and all six will count towards the COP. A minimum of two races shall be completed to constitute a series. 8.2. The Low Point System of RRS Appendix A4 will apply. 8.3. RRS Appendix A9 shall not apply. 8.4. PRIZES 8.5. Prizes will be awarded for 1st place, plus other places dependent upon numbers of entrants in each race, on corrected time. 8.6. Prizes will be awarded for the 1st in the series plus other places dependent upon numbers of entrants in in the series. 9. BERTHING 3 9.1. Overnight berthing at Soldiers Pt Marina, NCYC and RMYC Broken Bay will be available after each Saturday race at an additional cost to competitors. Competitors are responsible for marina bookings. 4
