Lady Lynx win two, headed to the USCAA National Championship Game

Akron, Ohio – The Lindenwood-Belleville softball team beat the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds on the second day of the USCAA National Tournament to put themselves in the National
Championship game.
In game one the Lady Lynx took on No. 2 Carlow University. The Lady Lynx got on the board first in the second inning. Nicole Miskowicz drew a one out walk and on the very next
pitch would steal second base. After a ground out by Makayla Powers, Miskowicz would move up to third. Sierra Redmon would come through with a big two out single to scoring
Miskowicz.
In the third the Lady Lynx would add another three runs. Marquis Lozoya would get it started with a one out triple to left centerfield. After a walk by Meghan Rumley, Samantha
Pacecho would reach on a fielder's choice that scored Lozoya. Stephanie Holiday would come up next and hit a sacrifice fly to center scoring the pinch runner Tiffani Shadowens.
Pacecho would come around to score off a two out double by Miskowicz.
The score would remain 4-0 until the fifth. Lozoya would lead off the inning with a single, followed by a walk by Rumley. After a sacrifice bunt Pacecho, Holiday would hit a single
into left scoring Lozoya. With two outs the Lady Lynx would get four straight hits and score five more runs. Sierra Redmon would start it with a single up the middle, followed by a
single by Brittney Snow. Mackenzie Foiles would hit a single into left and Lozoya would pick up her second hit of the inning.
With the six runs the Lady Lynx would take 10-0 lead and go on to win by the same score.
Stephanie Holiday (15-11) picked up the win in the circle shutting out the Lady Golden Bears and only allowing two hits.
In game two the Lady Lynx took on the No. 1 seed Briarcliffe College. Mackenzie Foiles would lead off the game with a single. Lozoya would sacrifice Foiles to second and an RBI
double by Rumley would give the Lady Lynx the lead.
The one run is all the Lady Lynx needed. Stephanie Holiday was magnificent in the circle going seven innings scattering two hits and not allowing a Lady Bulldog runner to get to
third base. Holiday would extend her scoreless inning streak to 14.
Lozoya led the way at the plate for the Lady Lynx, going 6-7 on the day including a triple, double, and two runs scored. Rumley went 2-3 on the day including the game winning
RBI in game two.
With the wins the Lady Lynx are headed to the USCAA National Championship game. The Lady Lynx will play the winner of the Ave Maria/Briarcliffe game that will be played at 12
pm (11 am CT). The championship game will be at 2 pm (1 pm CT).
