Modifications Due to the constant development and improvement of our products, the equipment supplied may differ from that described in this manual. INFORS explicitly retains the right to make such deviations and modifications. Guarantee You can find the guarantee in chapter 18.2. Extent The present manual describes the function and operation of all possible configurations of the NOVOTRON. The chapter about the incubation chamber, for example, has a description of the safe operation of the cooling system which is not relevant for a simple shaker. When such specific cases occur, they will be indicated. 1. Safety Considerations The NOVOTRON incubator shaker corresponds to modern demands for safe and easy-handling. Any exposed current-carrying components are low-voltage only, switching networks are physically separated and the chance of mechanical injuries minimised. Nevertheless, the following basic hints are indispensable for the safety of the user and the protection of the machine. These hints, both here and in the following text, are printed in italics in conjunction with a warning symbol (hand with outstretched finger). They are to be followed in every case. All the housings and covers of the shaker are only to be removed by personnel explicitly authorised by INFORS to do so. This is because safety-critical zones may be covered by some housing panels. The movement of the shaker table can cause injury due to the high torque when in operation. Therefore, the tray is only to be handled when at rest. During long absences or interruptions to operation, according to location (eg. humid laboratory or unprotected position), it is recommended to withdraw the mains power plug to avoid the risk of accidents. The shaker must never be operated without a tray. You must comply with the specifications in Chapter 4.2 "Chemical Resistance". Neither the air intake openings at the front of the shakers nor the three ventilators in the incubator chamber are to be obstructed in any way. On no account allow objects to become stuck in the fan or air intake openings. If the NOVOTRON is used as an incubator shaker without cooling, under no circumstances lift the unit by the plexiglass chamber, resp. the edges. NOVOTRON ® Incubator shaker Manual 2.6 2. Description of the Product, Technical Data 2.1 Characteristics INFORS AG Page 5 The requirements for shakers are constantly adapting and changing. The development of small incubator shakers has not kept pace with the demands of the market. The gap has now been completely closed thanks to the use of innovative design and production techniques. The result is the NOVOTRON. In the smooth evolution of reliable, accurate and powerful shakers, the INFORS-magnetic drive has kept up-to-date. However, with a complete revision of the system by incorporating microprocessor control, it now offers still greater reliability. When speed and temperature are placed under microprocessor control then features such as timed modes of operation and and data transfer via a serial connection become possible. The NOVOTRON's list of excellent features begins with a footprint of only 580 x 725 mm, a cooling unit integrated with a small incubator, which allows for the widest possible range of temperature-controlled environments to be achieved. The NOVOTRON can - because it is front-opening - can be located both on or under a laboratory bench. A revolutionary new system allows automatic tray release and locking. 2.2 Configuration The NOVOTRON consists of four elements: - an orbital shaker with a 25mm or 50mm diameter throw - an incubation chamber - a chiller unit with integral cooling system - a tray of type N (475 x 420mm), which optionally accepts flask clamps, bottle holders or "sticky matting". The total freedom to choose any combination allows the user to select the optimal arrangement for almost any task. 2.3 Function The shaker has an electronic drive system which utilises magnetic coils. The coils alternately generate a magnetic field which directly drives the shaking table and makes for a virtually silent drive mechanism. Magnetic drive shakers were developed by INFORS to provide high efficiency, a very "slim" construction little heat generation by the inductive system and the power to meet the widest possible range of requirements. Apart from the bearings/eccenters on which the shaker table travels, there are no moving parts. The eccenter also provides dynamic counterbalance for the load. The lifespan and reliability of the shaker are naturally increased by the use of this system. The temperature in the incubation chamber is measured using a Pt-100 sensor. Three powerful blowers ensure optimal air circulation. They are mounted on the rear wall of the unit and bring air from beneath the shaker table, over the heating elements and then circulate it throughout the incubation chamber. The blower in the middle is controlled only, if the cooling is activated. The speed control is steplessly adjustable throughout its range. A three-place digital display is used to show both the set point and the actual value. The temperature is regulated using a proportional electronic controller with Pt-100 sensor. Heater output is automatically adjusted in line with temperature deviations. Therefore, rapid heating up can be achieved without overshoot. The temperature set point is selected using a keypad in units of 0.1 °C. Set point and actual values are shown on the same display. NOVOTRON ® Incubator shaker Manual 2.6 2.4 INFORS AG Page 6 Construction The shaker has a robust and elegant stove-enamelled steel housing. The front panel is made from a rigid polyurethane foam (CFC-free) in which the splashproof operating panel is embedded. The incubation chamber is finished in 5mm and 8mm strong acrylic glass and is front-opening. The cooling system is housed in a metal casing on which the NOVOTRON is mounted. It has two handles at the front with two rollers at the rear which allow the whole unit to be effortlessly positioned under a laboratory bench. 2.5 Dimension drawing 200 785 675 370 555 515 580 2.6 530 725 750 Technical Data Width: Depth: Height (without chiller): Height (with chiller): Incubation chamber (volume): Footprint (W x D): Weight of shaker: Weight of chamber/heaters: Weight of Chiller unit: Electrical supply: Current: Power Consumption: Shaker speed: max. deviation: Temperature control: Temperature accuracy (Pt-100): Temperature range: with integral cooling: Airflow (Total): Heater output: Chiller output: Permissible relative humidity: Tray: max. load: Flasks: Weight of trays: Order numbers: 580 mm 725 mm 485 mm 675 mm ca. 140 l 580 x 725 mm app. 38 kg app. 17 kg app. 21 kg 230 Volt ± 10% app. 6 Ampere app. 1200 Watt 20 - 400 rpm 1% of maximum speed Electronic proportional controller with Pt-100 sensor ± 0,2 °C app. 3 - 5 °C over room temperature to 60 °C app. 8 °C below room temperature to 60 °C 200 m; / h 700 Watt 220 Watt 85% r.F. Transport 3.1 General INFORS AG Page 7 The NOVOTRON should never be transported or moved by a single person in view of its heavy weight, especially so when the unit with the incubation chamber and cooling unit must be handled. In this latter configuration, relocation over long distances within a building using a fork lift truck or small trolley is recommended. The equipment should only be moved by fork lift truck if it is standing on the original palette as used by the manufacturer for delivery. Also, relocation using a small trolley must be done with great care. There is a danger of shearing off the shaker's feet and collapsing the bottom plate in the event of extraordinary stress. The machine should therefore not be dragged unless the special base support option has been fitted. If it is not possible to transport the NOVOTRON using a small trolley, it should be carried by two adults (observing the correct lifting techniques). Weight without tray is 65Kg. If the NOVOTRON is configured as an incubation chamber without cooling then under no circumstances is it to be lifted by the edges of the acrylic glass chamber. 3.2 Packing All parts of the NOVOTRON shaker are packed in a cardboard carton. It is delivered attached to a special palette. The packing materials are selected to be "environment-friendly". Through the purchase of the machine the packaging becomes property of the buyer after the delivery. The incubation chamber is packed separately from the shaker/chiller unit(s). It must be assembled and mounted on the shaker before beginning operation (see Chapter 6). 3.3 Unpacking Please ensure that the equipment is not damaged during unpacking, especially the incubation hood (scratches). 4. Location 4.1 General The following points should be considered when choosing a location: - Protection from mechanical damage (small trolleys, kicks etc.) For a shaker without cooling, the environmental temperature should not be higher than 3-5°C below the desired operating temperature For a shaker with cooling, the environmental temperature should not be higher than 8°C above the minimum required operating temperature Do not locate in direct sunlight. The surface on which the shaker stands must be horizontal and absolutely flat. The shaker should not be exposed to extremes of dust and dirt without additional protection. The two air intakes at the front of the shaker must be especially protected from the ingress of dust particles. The base on which the shaker stands must be safely positioned. Please consider all the different connections you need to make (power supply, computer cabling). The mains switch must remain freely accessible at all times. NOVOTRON ® Incubator shaker Manual 2.6 4.2 INFORS AG Page 8 Chemical Resistance The equipment housing was tested with different solvents. With the following substances, there was no significant change in weight found: - Water - inorganic acids: phosphoric, nitric, hydrochloric and sulphuric acid, 10% aqueous. - Organic acids: formic acetic and lactic acid, 10% aqueous - Inorganic bases: Soda lye, 10% aqueous - Inorganic chemicals in aqueous solution: hydrogen peroxide 10%, calcium chloride and concentrated bleaching solution. - Hydrocarbons, petrol, motor oil, diesel. The housing should not be exposed to the following solvents in large quantities or for prolonged periods: - Methanol Ethanol Acetone Cyclohexanone Ethyl acetate Ethylglycoacetate Methylchloride Perchlorethylene Carbon tetrachloride 5. Interfaces 5.1 Electrical Standard Equipment 230 (115) Volt ± 10 % 50 (60) Hz Cable in country-specific execution 5.2 Serial Port RS 232, 9-PIN Standard pin configuration 6. Installation The NOVOTRON is sited so that on either side of the equipment there is a minimum of 100mm free space and 150mm space free behind the unit. The base on which the shaker stands must be horizontal and flat. Always make sure that the mains switch is freely accessible. When correctly positioned, the power cable can be plugged in. The lid (5) is fitted from the back of the unit. The door is pushed into the guide rails (in side plate 6) (first one side, then the other) The door support struts are fixed to the sides by bolts (7) Angle bracket (8) is screwed on using the M3 screw. Note: the angle bracket can be omitted if the incubation temperature does not exceed 45 °C. When the angle bracket is not fitted, the lid can be pushed backwards, allowing the access to the flasks from above. Admittedly this kind of opening, even when it’s temporary, can cause a considerable loss of temperature in the incubation chamber. Secure the guide rods with M3 screws (10) Tighten the side screws (1) Arrange side plate with the elongated slots so that the door will shut tightly (the rollers of the door should get into a little bit of traction while closing, so that they should pull back the top edge of the door) Be careful when tightening the screws that are in direct contact with the Plexiglass (overtightening risks breakage!). NOVOTRON ® Incubator shaker Manual 2.6 7. Starting the apparatus 7.1 Mains switch INFORS AG Page 10 The mains switch of the equipment is to be found on the left side wall. It is an ON/OFF selection switch which has to be turned on (position ON) first of all. If the switch is turned off (position OFF), then the unit is completely separated from the mains power supply. When the switch is turned on it shows a green light. At the same time, a small power symbol on the front display panel also shows a green light. The mains switch can be left on during normal operation, even if neither the shaker nor the heating are working. In this "stand-by" condition the unit consumes approximately 6 Watts. Frequent switching on and off (eg. every hour) should be avoided in order to minimise the stress on the electronic components. If the shaker is not used for several days, switching off at the mains is recommended. The set points for all parameters (temperature, shaker speed and timer) are stored for at least one week after switching off or during an interruption to the power supply. 7.2 Operating panel and Display The control panel is located on the right side at the shaker at the front. ON/OFF-Key Parameter Indicator SET-Key MODE-Key SET ON/OFF MODE Power Indicator 99.9 + - Display +/- Keys fig. 2 All parameters (temperature, shaker speed and timer) are programmed from this panel (see fig. 2). The appropriate parameter indicator lights up on the parameter display. NOVOTRON ® Incubator shaker Manual 2.6 INFORS AG Page 11 The operating panel (see fig. 2) comprises: Keys (from left to right): ON/OFF This key is used to switch on and off the control of temperature, shaker speed and timer. MODE This key is used to switch between the 4 parameters which can be adjusted: C Temperature RPM Shaker speed Timer function "Unit ON" Timer function "Unit OFF" +/- These keys raise and lower the set point values for all parameters. SET Allows the adjustment and display of set-points. Display (from left to right): 7.2.1 Power indicator lights when the mains power is switched on. Display Shows all set- point and actual values. The status of the equipment and the control of individual parameters is indicated. Parameter display Shows for both the setpoint value and also the actual value which parameter is currently being indicated on the main display. Handling the panel 7.2.1.1 General To make things clear, all the keys have only a single function which is evident from their title (except for accessing the operating hour counter see - 11.3). Only the display -which can show both values and messages - is, in this sense, "multi-functional" If the mains switch is on, the equipment is already in operation. In all cases, to make an adjustment to parameter values, the MODE key must first be selected. Then the SET key should used along with the +/- keys to adjust the parameter. After that, the control can be switched on. To do this you use the ON/OFF key. 7.2.1.2 Adjusting the Temperature - Select function "C" using the MODE key. "C" lights up in the parameter display. The desired set point value is entered by means of SET key along with the +/- keys. The set point will be displayed (alternating with the Status display). Control is activated by the ON/OFF switch as long as it is not already switched on. The actual value will be displayed (alternating with the Status display). For information on the display see Chapter 7.2.2 NOVOTRON ® Incubator shaker Manual 2.6 INFORS AG Page 12 7.2.1.3 Adjusting the shaker speed - Select function "RPM" using the MODE key. "RPM" lights in the parameter display. The desired set point value is entered by means of SET key along with the +/- keys. The set point will be displayed (alternating with the Status display). Control is activated by the ON/OFF switch as long as it is not already switched on. The actual value will be displayed (alternating with the Status display). For information on the display see Chapter 7.2.2 7.2.1.4 Adjusting the "START"Timer The “START“ timer allows a time delay in hours and minutes before shaking commences. This timer has no influence on the temperature control. - - Select function " Timer" using the MODE key. " Timer" lights up in the parameter display. The desired set point is entered by means of the SET key along with the +/- keys. The start time will be displayed. The value after the comma is in units of 10 minutes, the value before the comma is in hours. Control is activated by means of the ON/OFF key unless it is already switched on. The time remaining will be displayed. The timer symbol begins to blink. After the set time has expired the unit switches on. If it is already in operation the timer function in not activated. The activation of the START timer automatically deactivates the STOP timer. If a set value of 0 is entered, the controller cannot be activated. For information on the display see Chapter 7.2.2. When the remaining time is under 10 minutes an actual value of 0 is displayed. The timer function only controls the shaking operation and does not influence the temperature. 7.2.1.5 Adjustment of the "STOP" Timer The “STOP” timer enables shaking to be stopped after a period of hours and/or minutes. This timer has no influence on the temperature control. - - Select function " Timer" using the MODE key. " Timer" light up in the parameter display. After the set time has expired the unit switches off. If it is already in a non-operational condition the timer function in not activated. The activation of the STOP timer automatically deactivates the START timer. If a set value of 0 is entered, the controller cannot be activated. For information on the display see Chapter 7.2.2. When the remaining time is under 10 minutes an actual value of 0 is displayed. The timer function only controls the shaking operation and does not influence the temperature. NOVOTRON ® Incubator shaker Manual 2.6 7.2.2 INFORS AG Page 13 Display 7.2.2.1 General The following information is shown in the display: - Set points for temperature, shaker speed and time Actual values for temperature, shaker speed and time "Off" (Status: off) when the selected controller is switched off "Opn" (Status: open) when the incubation chamber door is open "Sta" (Status: start) when the shaker begins to turn "Stp" (Status: stop) when the shaker is braking "Hi" (Status: high) when the actual temperature exceeds the set point by more than 1.5 °C "Lo" (Status: low) when the actual temperature is below the set point by more than 1.5 °C "Err" (Status: error) when an error condition exists. The displays for set point, actual value and "off" are always available for the parameter currently shown in the parameter display. A required set point value can be called up at any time by activating the SET key. 7.2.2.2 Display for Temperature and Shaker speed The display follow the schematic as shown: ./. Chamber closed Chamber open RPM Controller ON Actual value Set point alternates with "Opn" RPM Controller OFF Set point alternates with "Off" Set point alternates with "Off" C Controller ON Actual value (eventually alternates with "Hi/Lo") Set point alternates with "Opn" C Controller OFF Set point alternates with "Off" Set point alternates with "Off" Table 1 All the information can be gathered from the display as it alternates to and fro between different "screens"; Alternating between Temperature and Shaker speed The alternation occurs at ten second intervals so long as no key has been pressed for a period of 30 seconds. Inside these ten seconds you see: Alternating between Status display and set point values (see. Table 1) The alternation always occurs at two second intervals. Additionally, the display of temperature deviation "Hi" or "Lo" appears when the actual temperature value deviates more than 1.5 °C from set point (see Table 1). You find here also that the display alternates between the status message and the actual value every two seconds. Correct Operation: When the display alternates at 10 second intervals between RPM and C without blinking. Rapid flashing indicates an error condition eg. a set point value not being maintained. NOVOTRON ® Incubator shaker Manual 2.6 INFORS AG Page 14 7.2.2.3 Display for timer The timer information is obtained using the display and parameter indicators. The display shows the remaining time until the SET button is used to display the original total time. If the timer controller is switched on and has a value greater than 0) the appropriate timer icon in the parameter display begins to blink. 7.2.2.4 Other displays "Sta" When the shaker starts to move "Sta" appears in the display. As soon as the minimum speed (20 rpm) is achieved the actual value appears. "Stp" When the shaker is stopping "Stp" appears in the display. As soon as the shaker has stopped the set point value appears. "Opn" Appears when the incubation chamber lid is open. "Err" 8. Appears when the shaker table is blocked, or the temperature sensor is defective. Operation If the unit is set up properly (see Chapter 7. Starting the Apparatus) there is little manipulation necessary during normal operation of the NOVOTRON, with the exception of loading the tray. The unit operates according to the following programmes; either: - constantly in the same mode - Stationery until the START timer switches it on, or - Running until the STOP timer switches it off. The appropriate adjustments are described in Chapter 7. The NOVOTRON runs without emissions of any kind except for the normal operational noise. Sudden noise, smells, unusually strong vibrations and the like are indicators of defective operation and MUST be investigated immediately. If in doubt on seeing such emissions the unit should be turned off at the main switch and the power plug withdrawn. 8.1 Loading the Trays The centrifugal forces of tray movement are neutralised by a compensating counterweight. For physical reasons the counterweight can only be balanced against a specific weight of tray. Of equal importance is the height of the centre of gravity of the load above the tray. (a high container = high centre of gravity , a low container = a lower centre of gravity). The higher this distance, the more the unit runs non-optimally and will vibrate. Although INFORS has optimised the "bandwidth" of possible loads, the following points should be observed to minimise vibration and possible wear to the equipment: NOVOTRON ® Incubator shaker Manual 2.6 - INFORS AG Page 15 Always load the tray as evenly as possible to distribute the weight of the flasks over the whole area of the tray. non-optimal loading optimal loading fig. 3 - Flasks which are exceptionally high with an extremely high centre of gravity should not be shaken at high speeds. non-optimal centre of gravity optimal centre of gravity fig. 4 - The permissible loading should normally not be allowed to exceed or fall under the following values: < 120 U/min > 120 U/min 0 - 18 kg (incl. weight of tray, in case of low rotations until 30 kg) (see chapter 8.2) Operation above or below these values does not (especially at low speeds) have an acute detrimental effect on the unit. However, it should be avoided if possible. A consistently higher or lower loading is definitely possible, but you must first contact your local INFORS representative to obtain the necessary advice. NOVOTRON ® Incubator shaker Manual 2.6 8.2 INFORS AG Page 16 Shaker speed The maximum permissible shaking speed depends on the position, throw and loading of the unit. The following standard values should be observed: Optimum Bandwidth: Bandwidth non-optimal loading 18 16 16 14 14 12 12 8 Shaking speed 400 375 350 325 300 275 250 225 200 175 150 125 400 375 350 325 300 275 250 225 200 175 150 125 75 100 0 50 2 0 25 4 2 75 6 4 100 6 50 8 10 25 10 0 loading in kg 18 0 loading in kg Bandwidth optimal loading Shaking speed fig. 5 25 mm Throw 50 mm Throw The shaker should always be operated in the appropriate "grey band". Otherwise, vibration may be excessive and/or the set point value cannot be reached/accurately maintained. Higher speeds for higher loads can definitely be obtained, but you must first contact your local INFORS representative for the necessary advice. 8.3 Starting the Equipment See Chapter 7. Starting the Apparatus 8.4 Pausing, temporary stopping of the equipment For pausing the operation of the unit, it is only necessary to open the chamber door. This causes both the heating and the shaker to automatically stop. This "AUTO_STOP" is factory set and be deactivated on demand. In this case, ease contact your nearest INFORS representative for advice. Additionally, the fans at the rear of the chamber stop to minimise the loss of temperature-controlled air from the unit. A factory-set brake is implemented to shorten the period between switching off and handling the tray. The brake is activated when the door is opened; switching off the controller circumvents this. After the incubation chamber door is closed everything restarts automatically after a short delay period (so long as the controllers have not been switched off). For information about the display see Chapter 7.2.2 WARNING: The movement of the shaker table can cause injury due to the high torque when in operation. Therefore, the tray is only o be handled when at rest. NOVOTRON ® Incubator shaker Manual 2.6 8.5 INFORS AG Page 17 Location of the tray and handling of the interior The table is located by a fixing at the back of the shaker platform and two "cones" (a square and a circular projection) in the front area hold the shaker tray in position. Also, you will find a safety bolt under the front handle which prevents the tray from accidentally coming free from the anchor points. To release the safety bolt you need only unscrew the black cap until it comes off completeley and lift the tray upwards. Refit the bolt when the tray has been replaced. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES START THE SHAKER IF THE TRAY IS NOT CORRECTLY LOCATED. When closing the incubation chamber door, it is important to ensure that the door magnet is free to rest closely to the operating panel. Otherwise, it is likely that the unit will no longer re-start. No containers or other objects should become lodged inside the incubation chamber, especially during shaker operation. When handling the tray, it must be remembered that nothing is to get into the three ventilator fans at the back of the unit. Equally, the two air intake vents at the front of the shaker not never be blocked. Under no circumstances should objects be stuck in the fans or air intakes. 8.6 Alarms Should the temperature controller determine that the actual temperature has deviated by more than 1.5 °C from the set point, an optical alarm starts: - 8.7 Either "Lo" (too low) or "Hi" (too high) is shown on the display according to the direction of the deviation. Serial Communication For queries about serial communications please discuss your requirements with an INFORS subsidiary or directly with INFORS Switzerland. INFORS a suitable control program, namely "MULTICON" software. 9. Taking out of operation 9.1 Pause, temporary stopping of the equipment see 8.4 9.2 Switching off - normal operation If the shaker will be inactive for a short time only, simply turn off the control of the three parameters: - To switch off a parameter function select it via the MODE key - Turn off the control with the OFF key - The control is switched off (eg. the shaking table is at rest). This method of switching off is an especially comprehensive feature when a shaker without incubation hood is being used. NOVOTRON ® Incubator shaker Manual 2.6 9.3 INFORS AG Page 18 Switching off - prolonged shutdown - Switch off the unit as normal Unload the tray; only empty flasks can remain in the machine. Turn off the main switch If power remains off for longer than one week the internal memory of the unit will be erased. In this case, all parameter values will have to be re-entered on resumption of normal use. If the shaker is not to be used for some considerable time we recommend you take the following precautions: - 9.4 Clean the shaker of all liquids which may have accumulated on the base during normal operation. Take all the usual safety precautions (protect against dirt, dust , scratches etc. For periods of several weeks without use, withdraw the mains power plug. "EMERGENCY" stop If there is danger to either people or the machine turn off the main switch immediately. In particular, there may be danger if unusual emissions are discovered (load noise, smoke, smoke, strong smells, excessive vibration). 10. Trouble shooting / Fault rectification If problems arise, please read the following list and follow the instructions given: If your shaker still does not operate correctly, or the fault is not listed please contact your nearest INFORS representative. "ERR" (Error) message show in the display This indication means that: - the drive system i.e. the shaker table is blocked, the Pt-100 sensor is defective, a magnetic coil is defective. or or If there are grounds for assuming the blockage was only transient, the mains switch is turned off and then on again. This causes a "RESET" i.e. all parameter control must be activated again, but the set point values are retained. If the "ERR" message appears again, please contact your nearest INFORS representative for repairs. The display shows "Opn" when the controller is active and the incubation chamber door is open and when the door is closed the digits of the actual value are shown (or "Sta" during run up). Timer operations cannot be correctly programmed Systematically follow every instruction. Complicated programming steps should not be carried out in a hasty manner - wait for the results! The controller needs approximately 20 seconds for complex mode changes in the programming phase (not in normal operation) to be initialised appropriately; then the desired results will be achieved. Note that when the remaining time is less than 10 minutes, zero will be displayed. 11. Maintenance/Service 11.1 Maintenance The NOVOTRON is basically designed as a maintenance-free unit and therefore needs no regular servicing. The shaker table works with sealed bearings, and the electronics need no maintenance. After approximately 10,000 operating time we would, however, recommend an overhaul of the shaker by INFORS specialists. Please contact your nearest INFORS representative when your shaker reaches this operating time. 11.2 Cleaning of the equipment The equipment can easily be cleaned with a damp cloth and a neutral cleaning agent. For the incubation chamber, an antistatic plastic cleaner is recommended. The instructions in Chapter 4.2 "Chemical Resistance" have to followed absolutely. NOVOTRON ® Incubator shaker Manual 2.6 11.3 INFORS AG Page 20 Operating hour counter The Novotron has three operating hour counters. If only "Timer" lights up, the first operating hour counter is shown. The operating hour counter records the time the mains switch is turned on, irrespective of the time the temperature and shaker speed controls are operating. After at the latest 10s the display changes to the next operating hour counter. Now "Timer" and "RPM" light up - this operating hour counter records the shaking length. After some time, the display changes to "Timer" and "°C". This operating hour counter records how long the temperature is regulated (time the ventilator runs). The operating hours are shown in the display when the SET key and the MODE key are pressed together. The display shows: XXX XX.X = = Hours Hours x 1'000 The decimal point in the hours value is exclusively to make this distinction and has no other function. 12. Spare parts If your shaker suddenly develops any defects please contact your dealer or nearest INFORS representative. For reasons of confidentiality, and because of the shaker's complex design, INFORS only offers a detailed parts list to its dealers. The normal spare parts can be found in our standard spare parts list. (evtl. on CD) For all queries to an INFORS representative please quote the type and serial number of the relevant machine. Both designations can be found on the ID plate of the equipment (see 15.1). 13. Do not use Green Sticky Stuff with universal trays. 14. Components from suppliers All supplier's components have been tested before their use in the construction of INFORS products. As a rule, INFORS use only those components which they have found to be reliable and durable. In exceptional cases it is still possible for faults to occur with suppliers' products. In such cases, INFORS cannot accept any liability beyond that implied by the normal warranty. We kindly ask our customers for understanding on this point and give the assurance that we will, of course, do our best to maintain the highest standards of quality. The exclusion of liability presented above is not effective for safety issues. 15.
