National
D1: At the end of each season – twice per year – Midwestern
Swimming hosts a local championship meet. Swimmers use their
regular season meets to try to make the qualifying times to attend the
championship meet. The Short Course Championships are typically
held at Woods Park Pool, and the Long Course Championships are
typically held at the Bob Devaney Center – both in Lincoln. (This meet
used to be called the Division 1 Championships. We still refer to it as
D1’s.)
D2: The week before each season championships, Midwestern
Swimming offers last chance qualifier meets. The last chance meet is
also the 8 and under age group championship meet, because there is
no 8 and under division at the Midwestern Championships. It is also
considered the championship meet for all the swimmers who have not
made it to the Midwestern Championships. (We refer to this meet as
D2’s.)
D3: B-T Raiders offers a third championship meet – D3’s – for our
swimmers. The last chance/8&U meet should not be a first-meet for
anyone. Wwe invite those swimmers to our own championship meet.
We also invite all the swimmers that have not yet broken a minute in
the 50 back/50 free. The D3 meet is not sanctioned.
There is a championship meet for everyone! Every swimmer on the
Raiders club should attend a championship meet each season. It’s the
time to celebrate a season of hard work with pasta dinners, yard signs,
championship t’s with your name on them, and fast, fast, fast
swimming.
