Stages of Behaviour
2015-16
At Royds School the Stages of Behaviour system is used to allow learning
to take place in the classroom and to remove low level disruption. It
enables students to take responsibility for their behaviour and to make
the right choices with a system that is fair, consistent and clear.
The pyramid shows the different Stages of Behaviour and this guide
provides detailed information on each stage.

The Six Rules of the Classroom
Our Expectations:
1. Arrive to lessons ready to learn and with the correct
equipment.
2. Follow the instructions the first time.
3. Listen to the person who should be talking.
4. Keep hands, feet and unkind words to yourself.
5. Put your hand up if you want attention.
6. Do the best work you can and don’t disrupt the
learning of others.
The Rule Reminder:
Students are told the “rule reminder” for not meeting
expectations before teachers will issue the first S1. Their name
will go on the board.
Teachers will:
 Have high standards and expectations of behaviour.
 Be calm, consistent and clear.
After the Rule Reminder:
 The first misbehaviour results in a S1 Verbal Warning; the
first cross on the board.
 The second misbehaviour results in a S2 Comment; the
second cross on the board and S2B recorded in planner.
 The third misbehaviour results in a S3 Removal; the third
cross on the board.
S2 Comments
A student can receive the following S2 comments immediately in a lesson or
around school. They will be recorded in the planner and more than one S2
comment can be issued in a lesson or around school.
 S2H Homework: No homework. This is issued by lesson, not by day.
 S2E Equipment: Incorrect or no equipment.
 S2U Uniform: Failure to follow the uniform code unless the student has a
note signed by Senior Leadership, Year Leader or Learning Manager.
 S2P Planner not signed: Issued by Form tutor.
 S2B Behaviour: A student can receive S2 Comment in lesson or for
antisocial behaviour around school such as horseplay, pushing, taking ties,
grabbing other students.
Students’ names do not automatically go on the board for any of the above.
The only exception to this is a student receives an S2B. In this case a
student’s name is placed on the board straight to S2.
S2 Comments are recorded in the planner in a weekly grid like below.
