Phoenix Union CEA Takes Action!

Phoenix Union CEA Takes Action!
The CEA is the professional association for all classified employees in
the Phoenix Union High School District. We have elected officers and
representatives at every campus. When you belong, you are part of
our family. Standing together collectively, our voices are heard.
As a member of the CEA, you are also a member of the Arizona Education
Association (AEA) and the National Education Association (NEA). The CEA
is the largest classified association in Arizona. As part of the AEA and NEA, we are
members of the largest professional associations in the state and the nation.
The CEA represents classified employees through the negotiations process
with the district. We have a team of members who negotiate our salary
and benefits each year as well as our rights through the Professional Agreement.
CEA’s Recent Starring Roles Include...
Increased salaries for classified employees
In spring 2014, CEA successfully
negotiated a salary package that resulted in a pay raise for all classified employees.
 Every classified employee received a 2% increase on their base salary.
 Those who were eligible also received up to a 2 step increase.
 Longevity for all at the appropriate years of service.
 Professional Growth will also be paid to those who submit their documentation.
 Though health care costs when up in most districts, CEA worked with our district so there
were no employee increases.
Saved jobs
Through the bargaining process with our district, the CEA was able to save the jobs
of individuals who were going to be without a job due to a reduction in force (RIF). Preserving jobs,
salaries and benefits for our members is a priority.
Advocating for our members
CEA represents our members in any workplace dispute or
working conditions situation. With CEA Representatives on campus, a CEA Advocacy Chair, and a
CEA President to help, members have the ability to get assistance when facing difficult situations.
CEA assists our members when they are in need.
Recognition of classified employees as professionals
As the representative
voice of classified employees, CEA has a positive working relationship with our teachers,
administration and school board. Over the last few years, CEA has been vocal about classified
employees being treated and respected as professionals. As such, the respect for classified
employees has been better recognized by certified employees, administrators/CES, and our
governing board.
