$500 PRIZES FOR TOP MUSIC STUDENTS BEETHOVEN CLUB OFFERS 4 $500 AWARDS BY AUDITION ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2017 (snow date Sunday, February 12, 2017) INSTRUMENTAL, VOICE, AND KEYBOARD AWARDS FOR LINN COUNTY STUDENTS WHO ARE SENIORS IN HIGH SCHOOL ALSO ONE AWARD FOR AN IOWA STUDENT CURRENTLY ENROLLED AT COE OR PLANNING TO ATTEND COE SIGN UP BY JANUARY 20, 2017 Beethoven Club Music Awards Edna Barrett Jackson Award (voice) Amount $500 Open to any high school senior attending school in Linn County accepted to any accredited college, university or conservatory, and who will be earning credits in voice. Beethoven Club Tribute Award (instrumental) Amount $500 Open to any high school senior attending school in Linn County accepted to any accredited college, university, or conservatory, and who will be earning credits in instrumental music. Lucy Ambroz Keyboard Award Amount $500 Open to any high school senior attending school in Linn County accepted to an accredited college, university or conservatory, and who will be earning credits in keyboard (piano, harpsichord, organ). Phoebe Sherman Haman Award (Coe) Amount $500 Open to any student from the state of Iowa who plans to enroll or is currently enrolled at Coe College and who will be earning credits in applied music. Applications and Auditions • • Applications must be postmarked or received electronically on or before Friday, January 20, 2017. Auditions for all awards will be held 1:00-5:00 pm Sunday, February 5, 2017 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 4420 Center Point Road NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402. In case of bad weather, the student award chairs will re-schedule all auditions to Sunday, February 12. • Audition time is limited to ten minutes. • Students may compete for one award only. • • • Memorization will not be required. However, judges will award extra points for memorization. Contestants must bring an extra set of original music for the judges; copies will not be accepted. Recording of the auditions is not allowed. Only judges and timekeeper are allowed in the audition room. Beethoven Club reserves the right to withhold any or all awards if performances are deemed to be below an acceptable level of achievement.
