NATIONAL COACHING CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (NCCP) POLICY FOR GRANTING MULTI-SPORT LEARNING ACTIVITIES ACCREDITATION FOR QUEBEC GRADUATES To obtain equivalency The applicant must: Hold a university degree (undergraduate1 or graduate program2) in Physical Education3 Submit the request form for granting multi-sport learning activities accreditation to SPORTSQUÉBEC and include a cheque for the appropriate amount (payable to SPORTSQUÉBEC). Provide the required documents: a copy of the diploma, a final transcript (outlining curriculum) and any other relevant academic documents. After the request has been approved, the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) will send a coaching card to the applicant and a list of all requirements needed to become a “Trained”(T) or “Evaluated”(E) coach in his or her respective sport. «T» status (Trained) indicates that the applicant has successfully completed the multi-sport learning activities requirements as defined by the CAC. For candidates who began a bachelor’s degree before September 2000 1. Candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from a Quebec University will be granted «T» status (Trained) for Competition - Introduction – Part A only. 2. Coaches who have successfully completed the Online Evaluation of the “Make Ethical Decisions” module (on the C.A.C. website at www.coach.ca) and who satisfy the specific requirements of the National Sport Federation will be granted «E» status (Evaluated). For some applicants, an integrated course (Multi-Sport learning activities and Sport-specific learning activities) offered by the National Sport Federation will be required. For candidates who began a bachelor’s degree between September 2000 and September 2003 1. The applicant’s request will be treated by the University granting the diploma. 2. To obtain «E» status (Evaluated), the applicant will have to successfully complete the Online Evaluation of the «Make Ethical Decisions» module (on the CAC website at www.coach.ca ) and satisfy the specific requirements of the National Sport Federation. For some applicants, an integrated course (Multi-Sport learning activities and Sport-specific learning activities) offered by the National Sport Federation will be required. 3. Equivalency for the Level 3 Theory component (original program) will be granted to applicants who have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Physical Education from a Quebec University which includes specialization in training or that includes all of the following courses : a. Planning a practice b. Training Methods c. Kinesiology or Anatomy d. Exercise physiology 1 & 2 e. Sport Psychology or Mental Preparation f. Sport Trauma Please note that for Level 3 Theory equivalency, the applicant must have “Trained” status for Competition - Introduction – Parts A and B (or must apply for them if necessary) or have successfully completed Levels 1 and 2 Theory component of the original program. This transitory measure will be re-evaluated upon the integration of the new program. 4. In special circumstances, other professional development (without the required specialization) might be considered. Such cases will be reviewed by the University granting the diploma. For candidates who began a bachelor’s degree since September 2004 1. Equivalency (Competition - Introduction - Parts A and B) could be granted to applicants based on an evaluation of the University program that was conducted with each of the Universities in March 2007 and which will be revised annually every September. 2. Equivalency for Level 3 Theory (original program) will be reviewed as mentioned for those applicants that completed their degree between 2000 and 2003.
