FACILITIES WITH AN EXCELLENT VIEW
The Itämerentorni was completed in 2000 to serve as the head office of
Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund. This 16-storey property is the tallest
office building in the centre of Helsinki. Its flexible floor plans are suitable
for companies of different sizes and are easy to convert into open-plan or
activity-based offices or traditional offices with separate rooms. Its shared
reception and conference facilities serve all tenants. The high-quality surface materials create an atmosphere of timeless style. The Itämerentorni
has won awards for its architecture, and the property has Silver-level LEED
certification for environmental and energy efficiency.

The Itämerentorni offers a comprehensive range of
services for companies and business life. Its restaurant, catering services and reception services meet the
requirements of even the most demanding corporate
events. Security is ensured at all times, and an in-house
caretaker is responsible for making sure that the work
environment is well-functioning, pleasant and comfortable.
A MEETING POINT
The Itämerentorni has an ideal location in a modern
business environment in the Ruoholahti district of
Helsinki. The building has excellent metro, tram and bus
connections in all directions. Those arriving in their own
car have access to two spacious car parks, either directly
from Länsiväylä or from Itämerenkatu.
First impressions
begin in the lobby
Here at the reception desk,
we serve as something of
a help desk for the entire
building. No question is
too big or small. We are
the visitors’ first contact
with the companies in the
building, and we also create
the final impression when
they leave. Our expertise
in security services enables
our customers to work in
a peaceful environment
while also protecting them
from internal and external
threats. However,
a human-centred approach
is an equally important part
of our services.

The Itämerentorni is the tallest office building in
the centre of Helsinki. It provides organisations of different
sizes with flexible, high-quality premises in an urban
business environment in the Ruoholahti district.
FLEXIBLE FLOOR PLANS
The office floors have been designed to flexibly
adapt to various types of floor plans. Each floor has
380 square metres of space, which can be used as
an open-plan office or divided into individual office
rooms. Modern activity-based office solutions are
also possible, due to the locations of the technical
building systems and windows. Any changes to the
floor plan are designed in cooperation with the tenant.
AWARD-WINNING ARCHITECTURE
The Itämerentorni was completed in 2000. It was
built by Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund, to serve
as the head office. The building was designed by
architect Pekka Helin and its architecture has won
awards both in Finland and abroad. Its facade combines weatherproof, recyclable steel and glass. In
2000, the Itämerentorni won the Steel Structure of
the Year award granted by professionals in the field.
AN ECO-EFFICIENT BUILDING
Special attention has been paid to the environmental
impact of the Itämerentorni. In recent years, its water
and energy consumption and carbon footprint have
been reduced by several dozen per cent. Waste has
been reduced through more efficient recycling, and
renewable electricity is used in the building.
The building is connected to district heating and to a
district cooling system that makes use of cold water
from the bottom of the sea. The Itämerentorni has
been awarded LEED for Existing Buildings certification
at the Silver level.

I have worked here since the
construction phase, so I am
familiar with each square metre
of the building. I take care
of the building and technical
building systems. My job is to
make sure that all maintenance
and repair work is completed.
Minor issues I address myself.
Light bulbs are replaced and
the air conditioning is adjusted
without delay. Ensuring the
high quality of the indoor air is
the most effective part of my
job. Poor indoor air quality or
an inappropriate temperature
immediately affects employees
and visitors alike. I answer
any questions related to the
property. The customer cannot
know who is responsible for
each area, so we cooperate
closely with the providers of
reception and conference
services.
