PLAY: SECOND WHITE SPECKS WILLESDEN GREEN-EDSON RESOURCE OIL

E
Play Description: Covering much of southern Alberta and Saskatchewan, the Second White Specks (2WS) section comprises
organic-rich shales and sandy/silty shales, which mark an important anoxic event that resulted in a prolific source rock. In the
deeper parts of the basin, to the southwest, the rock sources oil, and to the northeast biogenic gas is produced. A 2WS
conventional oil trend runs NW-SE parallel to the Mesozoic deformation front in Alberta’s Deep Basin, from Fir (Edson) roughly
to the north end of Garrington (Willesden Green). This broad region also encompasses most of the oil resource play wells,
which produce from fractured shales and siltstones.
