YOUTH VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE OVERVIEW The Arlington Heights Park District House League youth volleyball program is a recreational league for boys and girls, grades 5-8. The league emphasizes developing basic volleyball skills, having fun, and demonstrating sporting th th th th behavior. There are typically four Coed divisions: 5 grade, 6 grade, and 7 grade, and 8 grade. We only form separate boys and girls teams at a division if enough boys and girls register. Players may request to be placed on a team with one friend. Please see section on team formation and reciprocal friend requests. PRACTICES AND GAMES Teams have one 1-hour practice and one game per week. Games are played on Sunday afternoons. Practice times, days, and locations are determined by volunteer coach and gym availability. After the registration deadline, teams will be formed, rosters will be distributed to coaches, and your child’s coach will contact you with team information, including your practice and game schedule. The first Sunday of the season, all teams will have their first practice. At this practice, coaches will distribute team information and jerseys. WHERE AND WHEN DO I REGISTER? You may register on-line at ahpd.org or in person at the AHPD Administration Center, 410 N. Arlington Heights Road. The building is open from 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday. Players registering after the registration deadline will be placed on a wait list. Placement on the wait list does not guarantee placement on a team. Players on the wait list will be added first to teams that are most in need of additional players. TEAM FORMATION AND FRIEND REQUESTS The Park District forms teams based on school, grade, and the availability of volunteer coaches. Players who register by the deadline may ask to be placed on a team with one friend. However, the request must be mutual: both players must request each other. We cannot honor requests in cases where players request more than one friend or link friends in a circular request: friend A requests friend B, friend B requests friend C, friend C requests friend A. Please coordinate your friend request before registering to ensure that it is mutual. Coaches may not request players, and players may not request coaches. QUESTIONS?
