Participant FAQ`s and Guidelines 1. How is the team score

 Participant FAQ’s and Guidelines
1. How is the team score determined if collecting both $ and t-shirts?
Team scores will be determined by a combination of money and tshirts with $20 equivalent to one t-shirt (i.e If $200 and 25 t-shirts are
collected, that will equal a team score of 35 points).
2. Is there a way to score extra points?
WE LIKE YOUR ENTHUSIASM! Yes- with every t-shirt The College
Tee Project distributes, the children receive a letter from a college graduate.
A sample letter will be provided to each team leader. If your team collects 5
letters you can receive credit equal to one T-shirt.
3. What size t-shirts should we collect?
We prefer t-shirts sized Adult Small or Medium, allowing most kids
room to grow!
4. Are used t-shirts okay?
No. T-shirts must be new, never worn before.
5. Are all colleges okay, including Junior Colleges?
Yes, both 2 year and 4 year college t-shirts are welcome! We do
especially love receiving UC and CSU shirts, as these can be harder to find at
a discount rate when we purchase shirts.
6. I am not tech savvy…do I have to use the fundraising website?
Short answer- No, you do not have to use the team fundraising page.
The Crowdrise website is very intuitive and easy to use however- so we do
encourage you to give it a try. It is the best platform to easily collect funds and
spread the word about your efforts. We are happy to offer lots of IT support
along the way if needed. If this really isn’t how you flow, we can
accommodate that too. Please contact [email protected] for the
low-down on going “old school”.
7. How many people can be on a team?
There is no limit to team size. Go big or go small and mighty- just get
going!
8. How are the t-shirts distributed to the children?
T-shirts are distributed at assemblies through Sonoma County
elementary schools every Fall. Along with the t-shirt distribution, children hear
from inspiring speakers about going to college, receive letters from recent
college graduates, and receive a “Pathway To College” poster to take home
with them. The more donations we receive, the more schools and students
we can reach!
9. What are the best ways to get t-shirts donated?
The sky’s the limit when it comes to searching for t-shirt donations.
Here’s some tried and true ways we have found success:
a) ASK EVERYONE- A lot of people have great pride in their alma
mater! Ask people to donate shirts from the college they attended. If you’re on
social media, share your fundraising efforts and our cause with all of your
friends and family and ask them to help. (Have you seen the pictures of the
kids in the t-shirts? Come on, too cute to pass up!)
b) ASK YOUR COLLEGE BUDDIES- Part of an alumni association?
Fraternity, sorority or other college club? These groups are great for potential
donors and donations. Perhaps the association will make a contribution?
Challenge your brothers or sisters to donate a t-shirt or money!
c) CALL COLLEGES- Most colleges and universities now have
Diversity or Outreach offices that can be great resources and supporters of
our cause. Another option is to try the college bookstore to see if they have
any overstocked shirts, or if they can donate a large amount.
d) SPORTS STORES- Many sports stores and outdoor clothing
retailers have a good stock of college t-shirts. Contact your local retailers and
ask them to donate.
e) GET CREATIVE- What ideas can you or your team come up with on
your own? Host a happy hour or March Madness party with a $20 minimum
donation or t-shirt as cost of admission. Ask your favorite sports bar or
restaurant to get in on the action to make the March Madness season support
a great cause!
