SWEDISH HILL WINERY'S 2012 VINTAGE RINGS IN SIX GOLDS AND THREE "BEST OF CLASS"
AWARDS AT THE SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE WINE COMPETITION
Romulus, NY Swedish Hill Winery is honored to have won six Gold Medals and three "Best of Class" awards at the
2014 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition (SFCWC), the first competition of the year and the largest in the
country.
The "Best of Class" winners for Swedish Hill at the SFCWC include the 2012 Cayuga
White, 2012 Maréchal Foch, and the Viking Red (NV). This was not the first
achievement for any of these wines. The 2012 Cayuga White now has four Gold
Medals; the 2012 Maréchal Foch has won four other Gold Medals including a "Best
Hybrid Red" award; and the Viking Red (NV) that was bottled from the 2012 vintage
has two additional Gold Medals and a Double Gold on its accolades.
The New Year has also rung in Gold Medals for each of Swedish Hill's three Rieslings
at the SFCWC: Dry Riesling, Riesling and Blue Waters Riesling. These three 2012
Rieslings together have now claimed nine Double Gold Medals and five Gold Medals
at competitions across the country.
"The 2012 vintage is extraordinary" remarked Swedish Hill Winery's CEO, Dave Peterson. "Winning six
Gold Medals and three "Best of Class" awards is a wonderful reflection of the vintage and the efforts of our
vineyard and winemaking teams. It is also exciting to see how the Finger Lakes can stack up against wines
from around the world."
Being that this was the SFCWC's record breaking year with 5,825 entries from over 1,500 US wineries,
Swedish Hill is extremely honored to have had six of their wines recognized with Gold Medals. In 2013
Swedish Hill claimed 63 Gold Medals at competitions throughout the year and was honored to be named
"Top Winery" at the 2013 NYS Fair.
Located on the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail and owned by the Peterson Family, Swedish Hill's tasting room has
over 30 different wines, 21 of which are Gold Medalists, that range from dry to sweet white and red wines,
sparkling wines, and distilled products. For more information about awards, wines, and their tasting rooms
