WELCOME TO PLAYBALL SAN FRANCISCO! Hello! My name is Coach Dee Dee and I am the owner of Playball San Francisco. Myself and my staff are currently teaching Playball in the Squirrels classroom at Marilyn Reed Lucia center! Playball is so incredibly unique as it is the first program to use sports as a means to educate children in important life skills! WHAT IS PLAYBALL? Playball is a sports and movement program for children age 1-6. We offer a multi-skill program which focuses on the basic fundamental sports skills of 6 different sports including soccer, tennis, baseball, basketball, hockey, and volleyball. Our creative and highly engaging curriculum ensures that the children have a positive experience with us and enjoy every minute of being physically active! HOW DOES IT HELP CHILDREN? We use the medium of sports, not only to improve gross motor development, increase concentration skills, build low muscle tone, to teach children to be competent in hand-eye/footeye coordination and improve balance; but sport is also used to teach basic, yet essential life skills. At Playball the children learn persistence, courage, cooperation, respect, positive relationships, self-worth, communication, responsibility, and countless other attributes. We address the needs of the whole child - addressing the emotional, social, cognitive, and physical! WHY PLAYBALL? Today a sedentary lifestyle dominates our children's lives. The average child spends numerous hours in front of TVs and computers. This can have a detrimental effect on the child's perceptual motor skills: those skills that enable the child to act on and respond to information received. Many children have low muscle tone and poor concentration. The child's social skills suffer as do his/her emotional skills, and even intellectual skills may be affected. Playball's highly active curriculum gets the children motivated, active, and having fun! We find that children who attend Playball display: Increased confidence and independence Motivation to want to succeed Persistence and courage to keep on trying A mature attitude to both winning and handling disappointment The ability to take part in, not just one, but multiple sports A love for physical activity and sport ~*PLAYBALL TEACHES LIFE SKILLS USING SPORT AS THE MEDIUM!*~
