Our Week At a Glance Mrs. Mitch Reading: Phonics: • Practiced listening for the first sounds in words (played “First Sound Lotto”) • Learned new sight words “and,” “he,” and “at” Reader’s Workshop: • Practiced working with partners to strengthen our “pointer power” (one partner reads while the other points) • Learned how to use “picture power” (using a picture to predict an unknown word) • • Math: Compared the number of letters in our names Completed DreamBox lessons Counted & recorded collections Practiced ordering cube towers from shortest to longest • • • • Writing: Heads Up! • Cascade’s character trait for the month of January is reflective. We are working on honestly thinking about our behavior & deciding whether or not we are being safe, responsible, and respectful here at school. The kids will also be setting both behavioral and academic goals for themselves this month, so you may want to start having conversations with your little one about what goals they would like to work on.
