From the Pastor
Myron Halford
Have you ever carved a pumpkin?
You go to the pumpkin patch and
find the one that looks like it is
saying “pick me”. Then, you take
it home, wash it off, cut the top
off, and clean out all the yucky
stuff that is on the inside. Then,
you cut eyes, a nose, and a smile.
You put a light down inside of it
and put it out on the porch for
everyone to see. How much
closer can that be to what God
does to those who accept him as
Lord? He comes into our life,
cleans out all the yucky stuff
that is inside us, carves a smile
on our face and sets us in the
world for all to see. How cool is
that? But, sometimes the light
inside of us doesn't shine like it
should because the world dirties
it up. But, remember this:
“For we are God's workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus to do good
works, which God prepared in
advance for us to do.” Ephesians
2:10
New Members
Welcome new member, Dale
Monse.
Dale has faithfully
attended services at GRCC for a
long time, but we can give him
a hug or handshake anyway to
welcome him to our family.
Pastor Myron is always ready to
talk with you about your salvation.
You may call him, or simply pick
up a “green sheet” from the back
table, fill it out, and drop it in the
offering bucket. Pastor Myron will
contact you.
Our web site is very interesting.
Check it out at:

Come out and support these
young folks – there is no charge
They will soar on wings like
eagles; they will run and not grow
weary, they will walk and not be
faint.” Isaiah 40: 29-31
Since 1993, more than 100 million
boys and girls in over 130
countries have experienced God’s
love through the power of simple
shoe box gifts from Operation
Christmas Child. We have the
opportunity to participate in this
worldwide ministry through “Shoe
Box Christmas”.
Pam King is
leading this program for GRCC.
She will be sharing more details of
the program as time nears, but she
said “Operation Christmas Child
will gather shoeboxes filled with
gifts beginning in October with final
shipment in November. There are
several ways to participate and I
will explain those to you as the
time nears. If you have questions,
call me at 325-718-8399, or catch
me after service on Sunday.”
Jerry Turner administers our
website, grcchurch.org, and
encourages information from
the church be posted there. If
your team or program has
something appropriate for this
site, please email Jerry at

“He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the
weak. Even youths grow tired and
weary, and young men stumble and
fall; but those who hope in the

Express by email, if you wish. Just
email your email address to

issue will arrive electronically.
Looking Forward
To Christmas
The elementary and younger
aged kids will be doing a
Christmas program.
There
won’t be any parts to memorize,
so, your children won’t have to
worry about that. Get them
involved. Maggie Stokes is
guiding this production, so
please contact her at 432-2691356 to let her know your child
will participate or FMI.

Scam Alert
If you receive a phone call from
someone saying they are from the IRS
and that you owe money, hang up the
phone. It is a scam. The IRS would
send a letter. They do not call. All
their correspondence is by mail. Be
careful with these callers they are very
slick and can scare the pants off you
or worse, take money from you.

Sisters
Women of the church have
been called upon to make
costumes for the upcoming
Christmas program, so all
women are needed to complete
this project. You do not have to
be able to sew because there
will be plenty of other tasks to
work on. If you can participate,
please join us on Tuesday,
October 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the
church.
