Students from BSAD 322 Advertising and Promotion invite you to participate in the Spring 2015
Advertising and Promotion Design Competition. All SUNY Canton students, faculty/staff, and
alumni are eligible to participate. This semester’s competition is for a T-shirt design (screen
print).
$100 Roo Express Card ($50 from College Association, Inc. and $50
from Professor Kocher) and one T-shirt with winning design.

Proceeds from the T-shirt sale will fund next year’s advertising and promotion project.
The contest begins immediately and runs through 11:59 p.m. (E.T.) March 30, 2015. Each
contestant may submit up to three designs.

T-Shirt Design Contest

Advertising and Promotion Design Competition. All SUNY Canton students, faculty/staff, and
alumni are eligible to participate.
The winner will receive a $100 Roo Express Card and one t-shirt carrying the winning design.

Design Theme
The design theme is “Applied Learning and Career Driven Programs” at SUNY Canton.
‘SUNY Canton is Northern New York’s premier college for career-driven bachelor degrees, associate
degrees and certificate programs. The college delivers quality hands-on programs in engineering
technology, health, management and public service.’ – SUNY Canton Public Relations
The primary design objective is to find a creative, original, and entertaining way to visually represent the
above theme. The winning design will best represent the following traits: 1) Present SUNY Canton as an
institution focused on applied learning and career driven programs that lead to student success; and 2)
Present a creative and original design that is visually appealing to SUNY Canton students, faculty/staff,
and alumni. Contestants have the option of including a slogan appropriate to the design theme and
objectives.
Design Parameters
1. Design will be printed on a white t-shirt. In addition to white your design may include
two solid colors.
2. Design should be no larger than 12” x 12”
3. Designs may be hand-drawn (scanned image) or computer-designed, but must be
submitted as digital file
4. Preferred file formats are .ai, .pdf, or .svg. High resolution bitmap images (.jpeg, .tif,
.bmp) will be accepted as a last option. File name should include
firstname_lastname_NetID (NetID only required for students and faculty/staff).
Contestants are encouraged to incorporate the SUNY Canton name, logo, and/or colors into
their design. Information regarding official SUNY Canton design elements and the guidelines
governing their use are available at https://www.canton.edu/public_relations/toolbox/. Official
SUNY Canton design elements may not be altered.

Submissions may be made by individuals or teams
Maximum three (3) entries per person/team. All entries must be submitted in one email
Designs should be sent as email attachment to Nick Kocher at [email protected]

Campus community will have opportunity to vote on designs. Panel of judges will select
the winning design
Designs may be altered to facilitate the screen printing process
Winning contestant assigns SUNY Canton exclusive rights to the winning design.
All contestants assign SUNY Canton non-exclusive rights to their design(s) as necessary
for carrying out the contest
By submitting a design, contestants assert their entry is: 1) wholly original; 2) does not
violate any copyright, trademark, publicity right, privacy right or any other right of any
third party (Exception: Designs may include SUNY Canton name and/or logos as
indicated under Design Guidelines)
The organizers of this contest reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel, suspend or alter the rules and
parameters of the contest. All designs incorporating SUNY Canton trademarks, logos, and/or other SUNY Canton
materials will be vetted by the SUNY Canton Public Relations Office. In short, any design may be disqualified for
any reason deemed necessary by the organizers of this contest.
