Carondelet Freshman Basketball Coach Job Summary This position is responsible for leading the varsity softball team and organizing the softball program at Carondelet High School. The position prioritizes integrity, innovation and inspiration while conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques. The varsity head softball coach is responsible for recruiting within the school, scheduling opponents, training and coaching team members, and he/she is required to abide by the rules and regulations of Carondelet High School, the East Bay Athletic League and the North Coast Section. The softball coach models humble leadership, embraces possibility and innovation, delivers great, and inspires joy and gratitude in athletes and colleagues. Job Specifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Essential Responsibilities ● Foster a community spirit consistent with the Carondelet Mission and Core Values, among coaches, student athletes and parents. Assure respect for the uniqueness of the individual athlete and develop the whole person, by demanding good sportsmanship, promoting positive coaching practices, communicating effectively with all constituents, and establishing and fostering a good relationship with student athletes, parents, faculty members, administrators and coaches. ● Oversee the entire program, including sub-­‐varsity teams, and promote leadership and character development among all student athletes. ● Select, manage, educate and evaluate assistant coaches for the program in partnership with the Athletic Director. ● Coordinate staff development meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance. ● Instruct and demonstrate the skills and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement. ● Schedule games with the approval of the Athletic Director. ● Coordinate game strategy and team practices. ● Ensure a certified coach is present at all practices and contests. ● Ensure that proper maintenance of all athletic equipment, uniforms, and facilities are adhered to. ● Supervise student athlete travel to and from contests. ● Enforce disciplinary policies and emphasize sportsmanship. ● Maintain a safe environment, including facilities, for student athletes at all times. ● Ensure that medical and safety procedures are followed in the event of an athlete’s injury. Administrative Duties ● Follow and maintains knowledge of school policies and procedures relevant to the position. ● Adhere to all financial policies of the school, in regards to collection and disbursement of money, expenses and receipts. ● Maintain necessary records and complete required paperwork in a specified time and manner. ● Ensure that appropriate rules and regulations regarding the conduct and eligibility of athletic activities and athletes are explained and followed. ● Participate in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, etc. ● Perform other related duties as assigned by the Carondelet High School Athletic Director, Associate Athletic Director, President, Principal or other appropriate administrators. Minimum Qualifications This is a non-­‐faculty position. Head or assistant high school or college level softball coaching experience preferred. The coach must possess effective coaching techniques and skills. He/She should have knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies and techniques of the sport. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents and students. Bachelor’s degree preferred. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. NFHS Coaching Education certification preferred. Compensation: $2,000-$2,250 for the season
