Press Release TOOTHBRUSHING GAME CONTROLLER RELEASES SECOND GAME BRUSH AWAY THE SUGAR –NEW GAME TO INSTIL THE BRUSHING HABIT Playbrush, the smart device that transforms the humble toothbrush into a video game controller, has released a second game aimed at younger children. It comes as reports highlight the high sugar intake of children in the UK and their poor dental hygiene.. Playbrush is a smart device that transforms manual toothbrushes into game controllers so children can play games on a smartphone or tablet whilst they brush their teeth. It has been developed to motivate kids to want to brush their teeth twice a day for 2 minutes, a habit children are likely to continue with for a lifetime. The first game, ‘Utoothia’, is focused on getting children to brush specifically in the right areas for the right amount of time. Playbrush’s new second game, ‘Utoothia Sky’, is designed for younger children helping them to become independent brushers. The UK government has responded to shocking reports of kid’s sugar intake by introducing the sugar tax. The reports suggest that on average kids have three times more sugar than advised, with fizzy drinks being the worst contributor – up to a third of a child’s current average daily intake. Of course, this is not new to the many parents across the country who have a constant battle against the amount of sugar in ‘child-friendly’ processed foods. Paul Varga, CEO of Playbrush, said “I was inspired by my godson who would not brush his teeth properly, just watching brushing videos on an iPad with a stationary toothbrush. Playbrush was the perfect way to encourage him to see the benefit of moving the toothbrush around his mouth”. This led Paul, together with his co-founders Tolulope and Matthäus, to work closely with the Eastman Dental Hospital and other world renowned dentists in producing a toothbrushing gadget to enable children to have fun whilst brushing their teeth. Playbrush fits onto any manual toothbrush providing an affordable solution as one device can be used for a whole family. Through Playbrush children learn the right technique and speed when brushing their teeth. So far Playbrush has sold over 1,500 devices since launching in October, and the new second game is extending its reach, making brushing fun for any child in a 3-12 age range. This has put Playbrush ahead of it’s closest competitors, Kolibree ($150) and Grush ($69), who make fully integrated smart toothbrushes. You can now buy a Pink or Blue Playbrush for £35 from their online webstore at www.playbrush.com, and can also purchase it on Amazon UK.
