Beverly Retires
On July 28th, the CAC hosted a retirement
celebration/ open house to honor Beverly for her
leadership and ingenuity in the field of child abuse.
Guests in attendance were Susan Hutchinson, First
Lady of Arkansas, local law enforcement, community
partners and supporters plus Beverly’s family and
several current and former staff members of the CAC.
Beverly retired from the CAC after 15 years of
dedicated service and has chosen to continue her
work as Director of Restoration Village, a nonprofit
that provides housing for women in crisis that she
co-founded with her husband, David, over 25 years
ago. Beverly will truly be missed at the CAC but we
know she will continue to work every day to

Glow Run update
Shining Star Award recipient
On April 17th, we hosted our 15th
annual Cherishing Children Challenge
in downtown Rogers featuring a 1-Mile
Fun Walk/Run, 400-Yard Super Hero
Dash, Burpee Mile, and a chip-timed 5k
Glow Run. Over 900 people signed up
this year to shine the light on child
abuse and to help raise awareness of
the CAC's mission of empowering
children to find their voice. The event
netted over $37,000, making this our
biggest Glow Run to date in terms of
both funds and awareness! Visit
cacbentonco.com for additional
information about the CAC and next
year’s Glow Run set for April 15, 2016!
Congratulations to Jim Swearingen, DCFS investigator
for receiving the Shining Star Award at the Cherishing
Children Pinwheel Rally on April 1st. Jim spent several
years as a law enforcement officer entrusted with the
responsibility of protecting his community, and now he
continues to serve in a very different capacity:
protecting and empowering the community’s most
innocent treasures – its children. For him, these are not
cases or files or investigations or hotlines. These are
children…children who are in need… fighting for a voice,
to be heard, to be validated, to be reassured and to be
comforted. We are thankful for his service, his
compassion and his unending ability to be such an
integral and active part of our TEAM!

Cherishing Children Pinwheel Rally & Community Placement
On April 1st, we kicked off Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month by hosting the Cherishing Children
Pinwheel Rally at Dave Peel Park in Bentonville with guest speaker, Susan Hutchinson, First Lady of Arkansas.
There was a free hotdog lunch, drinks, ice cream, and a proclamation read by Judge Clinard and a presentation
of the shining star awards. Pinwheels were later placed at local businesses and police departments, throughout
the month of April to bring awareness to the issue.
