Meet Stylianos Tsoktouridis, TALEX General Manager April 3, 2017 ALUMINIUM MIDDLE EAST 2017 is delighted to welcome Taweelah Aluminium Extrusion Company LLC (TALEX), as an exhibitor for the first time. TALEX is the Middle East’s most advanced extrusion plant and its vertically integrated production process links liquid primary metal to state-of-the-art precision engineering and on to export markets in the Gulf and around the world, via KIZAD’s Khalifa Port. We speak to Stylianos Tsoktouridis, TALEX General Manager on the background of his career, how TALEX was founded and what challenges the company is facing in the coming year Tell us a bit about your career and how you came to work in the industry? I am a graduate of The University of Huddersfield in UK, where I received a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and Design and of The Technical Chamber of Greece where I received an MSc in Mechanical Engineering. I also am Chartered Mechanical Engineer, member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, in UK, a Professional Mechanical Engineer, member of the Technical Chamber of Greece, certified as Project Management Professional (PMP)® in the Project Management Institute and certified as Lean Six Sigma Green Belt in the International Association of Six Sigma Certification. After graduation, I launched my career in the maintenance department as mechanical engineer in Arjo Wiggins Fine Papers Ltd, Aberdeen, UK. Then moved in Greece where I worked as designer in the technical department of Thrace Paper Mill s.a. After that, I joined Valve s.a. an aluminum extrusion company, as head of production and scheduling. That eventually led me to start a fourteen years career in Alumil s.a. an Aluminium Extrusion Group with 7 production plants around East and south Europe and 24 sub diaries worldwide, generating annual revenues of €300m. In this firm I developed my career starting as Plant Manager in one of Alumil’s Production Plants then was promoted as Multi Site Production Manager and finally was assigned as Corporate Engineering and Manufacturing Director appointed to manage directly all production units within the Group with full P & L responsibility. What are the biggest challenges you have faced over the past year? The biggest challenge over the past year was to install and start up TALEX: Recruit experts in aluminium downstream industry, create the management team and establish the processes and procedures in order to run TALEX’s state of the art latest technology, sophisticated equipment efficiently. The main aim was to deliver to its customers on time, in the specified quality, precision machined ready to use aluminium products in completive prices What challenges do you forecast for the coming year? To establish and develop commercial opportunities for a greenfield, start-up company worldwide. TALEX is already delivering its products through its agents to Europe, North America, India and Australia. For the coming year the biggest challenge will be to develop further these markets and expand. What is the best innovation you have seen recently? TALEX has established a strategic agreement with Korean Institution of Technology and has developed and can offer to its customers exclusively, aluminium hard alloys with superior mechanical properties and higher corrosion resistance. Also TALEX’s vertical integration and automation starting from primary aluminium molten metal up to precision machined ready to use aluminium products guarantees shorter lead time, lower cost and full traceability. Why do you attend trade shows like Aluminium Middle East? Aluminium shows in Middle East attract attention and visitors worldwide. TALEX is participating to have the opportunity to increase its brand name and its market awareness not only for the GCC customers but worldwide. What are you looking forward to the most at Aluminium Middle East? To promote TALEX innovative aluminium hard alloys, educate, and present to potential customers the advantages that can create to their final product. Get the feedback from the market of its needs, adopt it and develop our products and services further so to meet and satisfy customers’ expectations.
