CHALLENGES
Partner On the Move Throw and Catch – Cardio endurance - Have the partners face
each other behind a line 15 feet apart. On the go signal they begin throwing and catching a
ball while exchanging places. Throws and catches must be from behind the starting line.
After each throw and catch the partners exchange places.
The score for each person is the number of throws and catches completed in 60 seconds.
Suggestions: Use a smaller soft ball, whiffle ball, yarn ball, 6” playground ball.
Be sure the partners are throwing from behind the line and not as
as they are running
Encourage them to throw TO their partner so they can catch it.
Partner Sit Up and Throw and Catch –Muscular strength - Partners begin 3 feet apart
in proper sit up position (feet flat on the floor, legs slightly bent, back on floor and arms folded
across chest) One person has an object to throw and catch (yarn ball, bean bag, small
playground ball, etc.) On the go signal the partners sit up together, complete the throw and
catch and return to the down position.
The score for each person is the number of throws and catches completed in 60 seconds.
Suggestions: Soft throws to partner so they can catch it
Feet glued to the floor or put something heavy on their feet
Arms crossed at chest when now throwing or catching
Partner Plank Taps – Muscular strength -Partners begin in a plank or push up position
with hands on the ground facing each other behind a line at least 15 feet apart. Using a ball
the partners must tap (not catch and roll) the ball back and forth as many times as possible
in 60 seconds. Participants MUST stay in proper push up position …bottom and back flat, and
cannot spread their feet…for the whole challenge.
The score for each person is the number of total taps by both people in 60 seconds.
Suggestions: Partners may move from side to side to reach the ball.
Soft taps and look at your partner.
Maintain a proper plank position throughout.
Crab Walk Beanbag Pick Up – Muscular strength - individual challenge. 2 cones and 2
beanbags are needed. Place the cones 25 feet apart across from each other. Put 2
beanbags behind the cone opposite from the start. On the go signal the person walks in a
crab position towards the cone with the beanbags. Upon arriving at the cone, they place one
beanbag on their stomach, go around the cone and walk back to the starting cone. That
beanbag is placed behind the start cone as the person goes around that cone and heads back
to pick up the other beanbag, put it on their stomach, go around the cone and head back to the
start cone. When the second beanbag is behind the start cone the challenge is over.
The score is the number of seconds it takes to complete the task.
Suggestions: If the beanbag begins to slip off the stomach the person can fix it
The person’s bottom is not allowed to touch the floor during the challenge
Forward or backward crab walks are permitted.
