Social Leagues 11-a-side Football Rules and Regulations 1. Fixtures 1.1 All fixtures, league tables and results can be accessed via our fixtures administration system, SportPAD. Visit http://leeds.sportpad.net// 1.2 All fixtures for semester 1 will be done in advance of the leagues starting and will be viewable via SportPAD. 1.3 ALL fixtures must be fulfilled. Teams will not be allowed to cancel fixtures except in extreme circumstances and following the necessary procedure (see point 2.4) 1.4 When fixtures are cancelled due to bad weather, a decision will be made by the facility staff as early as possible. When an early decision is possible, all team captains will be informed via email and a message posted on the SportPAD homepage. When an early decision isn’t possible, it is the responsibility of the team captain to ring Weetwood Sports Park on 0113 275 1347 to confirm if the fixture is cancelled. 1.5 All fixtures cancelled due to weather will be rescheduled for the catch up weeks at the end of the semester if possible. 2. Failure to Attend (FTA) 2.1 All fixtures MUST be fulfilled on the date scheduled. Games will not be rescheduled for teams who are not able to field a team for a fixture. 2.2 A 3 strike policy will operate for teams who repeatedly fail to attend (FTA) Concede game with advance warning 1. Warning given to offending team and walkover of 10-0 awarded to opposition 2. Offending team deducted 1 point from the league and walkover awarded to opposition 3. Team immediately removed from league with no refund given Concede game without advance warning 1. Warning given to offending team and walkover of 15-0 awarded to opposition 2. Offending team deducted 3 points from the league and walkover awarded to opposition 3. Team immediately removed from league with no refund given 2.3 Where a team fails to attend a fixture without emailing [email protected] and without contacting the opposition’s captain by the deadline time (see point 2.4), the offending team must also pay a £25 fine to cover the cost of the referee and travel expenses of the opposition. If this fine is not paid to Rachel in the Sport Office in the Student Union before the next fixture, the team will automatically be removed from the league with no registration fee refund. 2.4 If a team informs the opposition and [email protected] of their inability to fulfil a fixture by the deadline day/time, the £25 fine will not apply but the 3 strike policy will still be enforced. Free Gryphon Sport Pass 3.1 Due to changes in cost of sport it is no longer necessary for all team members to purchase a minimum of a sports pass membership. Instead, all registered team members will receive the new free “Gryphon Sport Pass” automatically put onto their student card; this will enable you to have access to the pitches for fixtures. 4. Squad 4.1 All social 11-a-side football teams must have a minimum of 16 players registered in order to participate in the league. 4.2 On any given fixture, a maximum squad size of 15 players is permitted (substitute rules detailed in point 5) 4.3 The squad must be finalised before the first league games (Saturday 8th October and Sunday 9th October) and each individual player must have registered their details on http://sport.leeds.ac.uk/sport/social-leagues/ by 12pm on Monday the 3rd of October. Without registering online, you will not receive the Gryphons Sport Pass meaning you will not have access to the facilities for your fixtures. Failure to meet these deadlines will jeopardise a team’s place in the league 4.4 Players can be added into a squad at any point, however it can take up to 1 week for a new player to be registered so please take this into consideration. 4.5 To register a new player the captain must contact Rachel ([email protected]) informing who it is, and the new player must also register their details online via http://sport.leeds.ac.uk/sport/social-leagues/,The captain will then be informed by Rachel when the new player is registered and able to play. 5. Substitutes 5.1 Teams are permitted a maximum of 4 substitutes per game. 5.2 Rolling substitutes are allowed but teams should not take advantage of this by making substitutions with excessive frequency, thereby delaying the game. This is at the discretion of the referee. 5.3 Substitutes must keep their team shirts covered up when not on the pitch, ideally with bibs. 5.4 Substitutions may only take place when play has stopped and the referee has authorised the change. 6. Punctuality 6.1 Matches should kick off on the 3G at 12.15, 1:30, 2:45 and 4pm (Saturdays and Sundays). 6.2 Teams not ready to kick off by 10 minutes after the official kick-off time, will concede a goal to the opposition, with one further goal being awarded for every three additional minutes they are late. This will be overseen by the referee. 6.3 A team may kick-off with less than eleven players, though a minimum of seven is required. 7. Cards 7.1 Card offences are non disputable. 7.2 Players are charged a £5 fine for a yellow card and £10 for a red card. 7.3 Teams are suspended from their fixtures until their players’ card fines are paid. Fines must be paid to Rachel in the Sports Office in the Student Union by 12pm the day before your next fixture (Friday for Sunday teams). League Wednesday League Teams (n/a semester 1) Saturday League Teams Sunday League Teams Card Fine Deadline Tuesday 12pm Friday 12pm Friday 12pm 7.4 If the fine isn’t paid by this deadline, at this point the opposition due to play this offending team will be informed they have a walkover, the referee will be cancelled and Weetwood staff will be informed that the fixture is void. 7.5 A 3 strike policy will operate for teams who continue to not pay their card fine. On the third occasion, the team will be removed from the league with no registration refund given. 8. Booking Pitches for Training 8.1 The Weetwood 3G pitch, outdoor 5-a-side courts and The Edge indoor facilities can be booked for training if desired but the normal Sport & Physical Activity casual booking procedure must be followed (appendix 1) and casual booking Terms & Conditions apply. 8.2 When making a booking for a social training session, the booking must be made by the team captain and the social team name must also be given. 8.3 Bookings can only be made for a one hour slot. 8.4 There is no guarantee that pitches will be available and bookable. It will be done on a first come, first served basis. 8.5 Grass pitches cannot be booked for training/friendlies. 8.6 Facilities are constantly in high demand (especially the 3G pitch) so when this is available we would encourage you to book space that is appropriate for your group size. We recommend the following ratios: Group Size 10-14 people 15-28 people 30+ people Facility booking 1/3 of 3G pitch 2/3 of 3G pitch Full 3G pitch 9. Equipment 9.1 Corner flags will be set up prior to your game by Weetwood staff. 9.2 Footballs can be hired from reception on presentation of a student card and a £10 refundable deposit. If the ball is lost the £10 deposit will be retained by the Weetwood staff. 9.3 A student card is required as a deposit for a changing room key at North Pavilion site but a £10 deposit is required at Weetwood Site. 9.4 Any student cards that are retained or are not collected will be brought over to Weetwood Sports Park (South Side) for collection from reception there. 9.5 A new 3G pitch has been installed and therefore the regulations on what footwear can be worn on the pitch has changed. The only footwear permitted on the pitch (for players and spectators) are blades, moulds and plastic studs. Metal studs, astros and trainers are not permitted. Referees and Weetwood staff will be regulating this and so people without the correct footwear will be asked to leave the pitch. Appendix 1 Casual Booking Procedure Artificial Pitches/Indoor Sports Halls Only captains will be eligible to book space for training. When booking the 3G or sports hall for a training session you must make it clear which social league team you are captain of and that you have a Gryphon Sports Pass. Please remember there is no guarantee that you will get the space as it is done on a first come, first serve basis. These bookings can be made up to two weeks in advance through our Reception team.
