Rules governing Riverside Golf Club

1. BOOKING OF TEE OFF TIME.
An online booking system via the club’s website is currently in operation for all games.
Entry closes at 12 noon on the Friday prior to the game. Except on Monthly Mug week, when it
will close at midnight on Thursday.
The draw results will be available after 13h00. If a member fails to book, he/she shall not
participate in that competition.
The club may from time to time use sms or e-mail to send the tee off time/draw to members. It
may also be viewed on the club website at www.riversidegolf.co.za If not received, it remains the
player’s responsibility to contact the secretary or any committee member regarding their tee off
time.
The club shall not accept responsibility for either sms or email reaching the intended recipient.
2. REGISTRATION TIME –FOR DRAWN GAMES . Players shall report to the registration table
before his/her tee off time.
(PENALTY for NOT reporting at registration: 1 Stroke or 1 Point)
3. TEE OFF TIME - FOR DRAWN GAMES. Players shall report to the starter at the tee box 10
minutes before his/her tee off time.
(PENALTY for reporting late at starter: 2 Strokes or 2 Points)
4. LATE TEE-ING OFF - FOR DRAWN GAMES. Late comers that arrive after his/her four
ball/group has teed off, shall be GOVERNED BY RULE 6-3a/2. . PENALTY :ARRIVING
Within 5 minutes 2 Strokes or 2 Points ,After 5 minutes DISQUALIFICATION
5. NO SHOW - FOR ALL GAMES Failure to arrive for a competition or for not telephonically
informing a committee member about your non-availability after the draw has been done.
(PENALTY: Handicap drop of 2 – handicap frozen at new value for 6 weeks.)
6. PLACING of a player’s ball . Local RGC rule - Placing shall be one club length, on any closely
mown area, (all fairways, tee boxes and the like) unless otherwise specified by the committee on
the day of the tournament
7. SLOW PLAY - It is each player’s responsibility to make sure they keep up with the group in
front of them. Your group should never be one clear hole behind the group ahead of you. Any
player is entitled to remind his/her own group or the group ahead of them of slow play and request
that play be sped-up. Should your 4 ball/group arrive at the 18th green 25 minutes after the 4
ball/group in front of you have walked off, each person in your 4 ball/group shall be penalized. (2
shots or 2 points.)

8. COMPETITION FEES shall be paid to the registration official before the start of play on
Monthly Mugs. PENALTY: Non-payment shall result in suspension from all competitions until
paid.
9. CLUB SHIRTS

10. SCORES shall be entered timeously and accurately. Failure shall result in the committee entering
your score. PENALTY: penalty round imposed as per the HNA/SAGA. Any player who enters a
score on the computer higher OR lower than the score reflected on the (his/her) score card shall be
subject to disciplinary action.
11. SCORECARD - All players must enter their name and surname in full on their score card.
Visitors must be marked on the card with a (Vis) after their name. Should the Visitor have an
official handicap, the SA Player ID must also be entered on the card.
11.1 The ORIGINAL scorecard is to be completed, signed off and handed to the scoring
committee member on duty as soon as possible after walking off the last green, Rewriting of the
complete scorecard is not allowed. PENALTY a two shot/stroke penalty to the marker of the
card.
12. SANDBAGS are compulsory at Papwa Sewgolum Golf Course. Each player shall have his/her
own sandbag and use it. Sandbags may be hired / purchased from the caddie master or the player
may use his/her own.
13. VISITORS
Members are allowed to invite a maximum of 6 visitors per year to participate in RGC
competitions. Any one visitor may not play in Riverside Golf Club competitions more than
FOUR TIMES in a Calendar year.
Visitors are to pay full competition fees for competitions, and may win prizes as follows:
Visitors may not win the Mug, but may win other prizes.
Normal competitions - all prizes, the same as members.
13.1 Visitors handicaps - Visitors who do not have an official HNA/SAGA handicap shall play
off a maximum handicap of 12.
14. It is every member’s responsibility to ensure that their contact details, on the system are correct.
Members must update their profile on the website on a regular basis. No leniency will be shown to
persons who claim, they did not receive notifications, sent out from time to time.
15. DISPUTES arising from the rules above shall be referred to the committee whose decision shall
be final and binding.
