Welcome to the sixth season of the Cashmere High School Netball club. We have finished trials and all
teams have been selected. Thanks to all those students teachers and coaches who helped out with
trials. This year we have maintained our high numbers with 16 teams, which is fantastic!
Some teams have already had their first training which is great to see! Thank you to all those people who
have come on board and offered to help out with coaching/managing a team. The teams are as follows:

Any teams that are listed in the Saturday draw as Cashmere are from Cashmere Club.
We are very thankful to those people who have given up their time to coach. Without these people our
club would not be able to continue to thrive. If you have questions at any time, in the first instance
please talk to the coach of your daughter’s team. If you have questions that they may not be able to
answer, please direct these questions to Mrs Newton at [email protected].
Wednesday Netball / Saturday Netball
All teams will play in the Saturday competition at Hagley Park. Game start times range from 10am
through to 2:10pm. Draws will be printed 5 weeks in advance and uploaded to the school Facebook site
as well as placed on the school Netball Notice Board. If your daughter is ill/injured on a Saturday it is vital
that she make the coaches aware ASAP so that another player can be brought in from another team if
necessary. If the team must default at late notice, the team will be fined $160 which will have to be paid
for by the team. Also please be aware that there will not always be a staff member at the courts on a
Saturday. If an issue arises and a parent is not present they must talk to their coach or manager in the
first instance. Please make sure the coach is aware of your daughter’s medical issue / changes.
A change for this year is that entry into the Wednesday competition is not guaranteed. This year each
team must have an adult who will supervise their Wednesday games (12 games in total). If no adult
comes forward the team will not be entered. This responsibility can be shared between parents
however, it will be the responsibility of a parent to organise a roster. Please let the coach of your
daughters team know if you can help on a Wednesday. Games are played at different venues throughout
Christchurch and generally start at 3.15pm finishing at 4.00pm. The school will provide transport to the
venue and back to school for all teams.
Uniform:
All teams will play in a dress. Players will need to purchase a dress and will not be able to play until they
have one. A new dress can be purchased from the school uniform shop or, if you are looking for a second
hand dress, at times there are some available from the second-hand uniform shop (see school web site
for opening hours) or Trademe. New dresses will cost $115 and must be paid for in full before the
student can take one.
Subs:
These are dependent on the fees that we are required to pay for entry into the Saturday Competition.
Teams in lower grades have a reduced entry fee; hence the subs are less for these teams. There has
been a reasonable increase in our fees to the Netball Centre this year, which unfortunately results in an
increase in our subs. Subs are as follows:
U14 (Year 9 teams)
U15 (Year 10 teams)
U17 (Senior D-G teams)
U19 (Senior B & C team)
Senior 1 (Senior A team)
$120
$125
$130
$130
$145
All girls will have to pay an extra $50 each on top of the above subs for the Wednesday Netball
Competition to cover transport costs. Confirmation into the Wednesday competition has not yet been
sorted. This payment will only have to be made if your daughter’s team is entered. A notice will be
emailed out with the due date for this payment.
Subs (not including the $50 for Wednesday games) need to be paid before 4th of May (this is an
extension on what was initially stated in the Information Booklet). If you need to arrange a payment
plan, please contact the Payment Centre. Payments can be made to the Payment Centre or via internet
banking. The account number is 12-3482-0034441-00. Please enter 81039 and your daughter’s
first and last name as a reference.
Umpires:
Year 9 teams will have to supply their own umpires for their games. The school has set up an Umpiring
Club and we hope that these girls will be able to cover these games.
Teams entered in the Under 19 grades and above will also have to provide two umpires for the round
after their games (with U19 only being used if needed). Before the first game of the season these girls
are required to sit and pass the NNZ online Centre Theory examination unless they hold a current umpire
qualification of Centre badge or above. This assessment can be accessed through the Christchurch Netball
Centre website.
Useful Websites:
We will put letters such as this on our school website under the co-curricular area in the ‘sports’ section.
We also have a Facebook Page - https://www.facebook.com/CHSNetballClub. Here we will post relevant
information and results. We hope that this is an effective way to communicate with the Cashmere High
Netball Community.
The Canterbury netball website is great for draws, results, statistics and playing days as well as
cancellations due to weather. The website is www.netballchristchurch.org.nz.
Fundraising:
The Senior A netball team is currently selling entertainment books to fundraise for South Island
tournament which will be held in Nelson this year. If you wish to order one of these please follow this
link - https://www.entertainmentbook.co.nz/orderbooks/1347j16 . You can get either a digital or hard
copy of the book.
