TRUSTEES The New Economics Foundation exists to build the case

TRUSTEES
The New Economics Foundation exists to build the case and the campaign for the
new economy. Our work brings insights from the best, most original and widely
respected subject-based research into direct contact with the campaigns, movements
and other actors who are trying to build the new economy. We do that in a broad
number of areas with current work focusing on issues such as reform of the banking
system, housing, energy and climate change, technology and the world of work, and
community economic development.
We have a proud thirty-year history but are also setting out in a new direction,
prioritizing real partnerships with others in helping to bring about change today and
not just outlining abstract plans for the economy of tomorrow.
We have recently restructured to enable us to deliver our ambitious objectives and
are now seeking up to three new Trustees to join our Board.
We are seeking exceptional individuals with sufficient status and influence in the
sector to best represent NEF publicly. You will have a track record as an
inspirational leader, will bring a fresh perspective to the Board’s work, be prepared
to challenge the status quo, and assist with the challenging task of securing funding
for our ambitious agenda. We are looking for experience and expertise in one or
more of the following: economic thinking and analysis, news and media, HR and
organisational operations or policy formulation and government liaison.
We want a diverse board, with a broad representation of ages, background,
perspective, gender and ethnicity.
Your primary responsibilities
• To drive the strategic direction of the organisation
• To raise NEF’s profile whilst safeguarding its values and good name
• To work with fellow Trustees and the CEO to challenge performance
• To ensure that NEF complies with all relevant charity legislation and is financially
sustainable
This role is not remunerated, however reasonable expenses will be paid
Trustees must be prepared to meet at NEF’s London offices at least once a quarter,
and may be asked to join sub committees or ad hoc working groups as necessary.
If you are driven by the vision of delivering real economic well-being for real people
– then you could be the person we need.
