AI Programme with the Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) – (2014-2019) Interfaculty and inter-institutional research projects THIRD CALL: 2016 The following comments should be considered before filling in the application form: The aim of the AI research programme is to finance high-quality interfaculty and inter-institutional research projects involving young staff. The duration of each project will be of two or three years. The total amount available for a project is limited to 20,000 Euros. Each project must include a senior scientist (PhD holder) from the VNUA. In the research team, there are at least two young researchers (max. 35-y.old) who will be actively involved in the submitted proposal. Each project must associate at least one another scientist, either from another faculty of VNUA or from another participating institution in Vietnam or in the sub-continent. It is recommended but not mandatory to associate one or several scientific partners from the universities of the French community of Belgium. The research domains concerned by this funding are all those presently covered by the departments of VNUA. The project must be written in English. Any form of plagiarism automatically leads to rejection. The quality criteria for the project selection are listed in appendix 1. The deadline for submission of the application is October 30th, 2015. Applications have to be submitted both in an electronic and a printed form at the following address: Msc. The selection committee is composed of several senior scientists of the VNUA and of the universities of the French speaking community of Belgium. The selection procedure is the following: - The local steering committee verifies that all criteria of eligibility are fulfilled. Eligible projects will be preselected by the steering committee. All the projects are sent to the Belgian PAR, along with the motivations for the decision to preselect or not. - The preselected projects will be evaluated by two independent experts (one Belgian and one Vietnamese). - The final selection based on the evaluation reports will be done by the steering committee in December 2015, or before. Selected projects will start from February 1st, 2016. Next call is scheduled in September 2016. 1. APPENDIX 1 : Selection criteria The referees are kindly requested to address successively the five sets of questions, giving for each of them one (or more) paragraph(s) of well-argued comments, and a mark between 1 and 5 (1 = weak; 2 = below average; 3 = average; 4 = good ; 5 = very good/excellent). Please assess the relevance of the project from a scientific and/or applied point of view: in which sense could the proposal be described as an original one? ; is it clearly formulated? ; do you think it can be described as a key issue in the regional context? 3 How would you assess the different applicants in academic terms and how would you assess their potential for the project?
