things in the past month. Our goal is to get through. A lot of “red tape”
bureaucratic things. We must work together if we want to be successful. We’ve
already come together, but now we must work together.

Delaney, Layton and Davis are doing really well, they’re working together.
Bountiful does not want a Key Club.
Carly Skyline has raised over $100 for Trick or Treat for UNICEF. Park City has only
contacted her one time. Wasatch only contacted them one time. West got Trick
or Treat boxes, but was not able to make money. Wasatch finally responded.
East does have a Key Club, but has not been turning things in. Highland is dad
and Olympus is a new club.
Danny’s clubs are waiting for the Festival of Trees.
Simran has been trying to contact her home club’s Kiwanis club. They’re making
hygiene kits for a Road Home shelter.
Shani has been updating the DCON registration packet.
Miao talked to Primary Children’s and talked about Children’s Miracle Network.
Amanda, is working on getting more members engaged at West High and will
move onto other schools later.
Liz lives in North Maryland and goes to a Linginar High school in a corn field. Was
an LTG last year and is our current International Trustee. We should be getting
weekly updates from her.

We do some quick introductions.
Kelly Feng introduces herself. She’s LTG of 5A. She’s a sophomore.
o Jeremy asks what she has done so far.
o She’s contacted her schools.
Danny had his DCM at which he discussed Key Club week in detail. Two from
Alta and five from Hillcrest. Both were unresponsive.
Eric Huang introduces himself. He goes to Boise High School in division 6A. He has
been working with Karthik to hold a DCM. It’s easy to contact, but hard to get
them to participate. They’re planning to hold a PCM after the Fall Break.
Karthik is helping to pay dues.



Liz tells us that the sister district Facebook page, there is a tutorial to help
pay dues.
Karthik says it is hard to visit schools without missing a significant amount of
schools.

Yuth and Annielah arrive.

Yuth is trying to charter some clubs with Bonneville Kiwanis club. They are
trying to charter Olympus High School (8B), East is also back up (8B).
Randy stepped down from his position due to some personal issues.
o Still looking for a new LTG.
Ciara is hard to contact. Will not reply and will not contact him.
o She will be put on probation.
At our last “board” meeting the LTGs said they would plan a DCM.
Annielah has no updates.
Yuth says our goal is to have jobs for the committee members, book the
hotel and work on speaking roles. Finish it by tonight.

Revis is going to talk about Idaho









Revis says it is a privilege for them to be a part of our discussions and
coming to decisions.
This weekend will provide the foundation to DCON coming up in March.
It will put the muscle into building up the whole program. He looks forward
to that.
The next meeting will be fine tuning it.
Revis wants to take a little bit of time to talk about a few things.
He’s been talking to a few different clubs.
o He talked to the Westlake club a few months ago and hear about
all their projects.
o He’s met with a number of different clubs and they’re all doing a lot
of good things in the high schools. They’re really active.
o He talked to a member of the Salt Lake Club. Carter Jones, a
Kiwanis LTG, has started a club in Salt Lake City. They had their first
meeting and it had about 25 kids.
 It would be under Danny, Division 8C.
One of the things that makes Kiwanis is working with Key Club and modify
their way of life. It’s what we are all about.
Wednesday, he was at Emmet High School, Back in the hills behind Boise.
There were 8 inches of snow on the ground. Haven’t gotten above 30
degrees since the snow fall.
o Went to the Kiwanis clubs, has about 20 members.
o Two of the Key Club members were also there. They had just
resurrected their club.
o They asked the adults and worked on projects with them.
o Very interested in DCON.
Still haven’t been able to secure a district administrator.
o We will have an assistant district administrator for Utah and Idaho.
 Currently we have John Brown for Utah, but we are looking
someone for Idaho.
 Asks the board members to look for an assistant administrator
in Idaho.
o Revis wants the board to think about having a vice governor or
Utah and a vice governor for Idaho. They might have a different
title.
o Issue is locating people who are interested in working in Key Club.
o Revis says that there is a senior at Emmett who would be willing to
help find someone to be division 9 LTG for next year.
 Her name is Natalie.
o Revis gives us all fliers about ELIMINATE recognition.
o Also gives social network handouts.
o Eric, Karthik and Revis worked with Kiwanians in Division 4 to work on
FTR, however, they were snowed off.
 They had about 16 people planning to attend.
 Want to try to do that in early January.
Story time with Revis
Fall of Freddie the Leaf.
Spring had passed so had summer. Freddie the leaf had grown large. He had
first appeared in spring as a small sprout on the top of a tall tree. Freddie was
surrounded by hundreds of other leaves. Soon he discovered no two leaves
were a like even though they were on the same tree. They had all grown up
together, they danced together in the breeze. Daniel was Freddie’s best friend,
he was the largest leaf. Daniel appeared to be the wisest. It was Daniel who
explained they were growing on a tree in a public park. He explained about the
birds and the roots of the tress. He explained of the sun, the moon, the stars and
the seasons. Freddie loved being a leaf. Summer had been especially nice to
Freddie. There were many people in the park that summer, they also sat below
the tree. Daniel said the purpose was to give people shade. A purpose is a
reason for playing. To provide comfort of others. These are all reasons for living.
He liked the quite elderly as well as the active children. Freddie’s summer soon
passed. It had never felt so cold. Soon, they were covered in dew and sparkled
in the sun. Daniel explained they had experienced their first frost. Almost at
once, the whole tree, the whole park was transformed into a blaze of colors.
Freddie was red and gold and blue. They all looked beautiful. They had made
their tree a rainbow. Why did we change different colors if we grew on the
same tree? Daniel said we have had different experiences, why should we not
be different colors? Soon all their stems were being pulled as if they were angry.
All the leaves became frightened, what’s happening they asked each other?
It’s time for all the leaves to find a different home. Will we all die? Freddie said
yes, we will all die. We experience life, and will die. Freddie said I won’t die, will
you Daniel? Daniel said he will die when I it is his time. Some lashed back, while
some just fell. Freddie told Daniel he is afraid of dying. We all fear what we don’t
know said Daniel. Daniel said, you weren’t afraid of summer, not of spring, why
should you be afraid of the season of death. Will we come back asked Freddie?
Daniel said no one knows. Why do we live if all we do is to fall and die? Daniel
said it is about the moon and the suns, the children and the elderly, the colors
and the skies. That day Daniel let go. He fell effortlessly. Daniel was the last leaf
on the tree. It was bitter cold and the day was very short. He lost his color and
became brittle. At dawn the wind came that took Freddie from his branch. It
didn’t hurt at all, but he felt himself fall. He saw the whole tree for the first time,
how firm and strong it was. It made him proud that he was a part of this. He fell
on a clump of snow and was happy. He closed his eyes and fell asleep. He
didn’t know that snow would melt to water and that spring would follow winter.
He didn’t know asleep in the tree and the grounds were already plans for new
leaves.
It’s kind of a metaphor for everything that we do, that life is the grand picture
that we are all a part of. We are all leaves. This is the last time all the seniors
have to do something like this. What we do will pave the way for next year.



Revis participates in a program called Kids Count Too, for families who
have lost someone.
They understand that the big picture of life continues.
It’s ok when we experience the loss of some, but that’s when children and
teenagers can put a perspective together and continue all.

Alex has been working with Ogden and Roy High School. He hasn’t
planned anything for his DCM yet. He must hold one by Winter Break.
Danny asks if we should be planning another one.

Kelly says she got Fuller to contact her a few days ago. She hasn’t been
able to hold a DCM.
Delaney says Bountiful hasn’t had one in years and are not interested in
starting one.
Yuth asks if they have been talking to Kiwanis
Alex says yes.
Danny says Hillcrest and Alta will be attending the Festival of Trees.
Yuth asks about the other schools.
Danny has a concern. Neither of his active schools replied even though
they’re usually good with replying.
IF you can’t contact them, find a local Kiwanis club. They can help find a
potential adviser.
Danny asks how to log mileage.
Yuth said to log the mileage and send it to Bovey. Bovey will send it to the
Kiwanis Foundation. Tell Bovey your mpg.
Yuth has been working with 8A.

o Plans on visiting Grantsville and Tooele.
Danny needs to talk to Revis about the new club.
Kelly says Burley doesn’t plan on having a Key Club.
Karthik sent in his MRF late and is put on probation.

If you are on probation, they must call twice a week for two weeks. Yuth
will not call them. Visit all their inactive schools.

We left an hour and a half off on the agenda.
Jeremy moves to swap the names of division 5B and 5A.

Carter liked Fall Rally, thought it was well organized. Didn’t know what key
club was before.

Nadia says everything is coming together fine. Thought Fall Rally was a
success. She found people who aren’t in Key Club in attendance.
Anderson/Max really liked Fall Rally. We made lots of capes. Anderson
feels like there were a lot of things committee members could have done

Misti didn’t go to Fall Rally, but she doesn’t understand why the
committee members need to be here. She thinks what we’ve done so far

Sonia said it was a little bit unorganized. She agrees with Misti, in some
aspects.
Serena said that Fall Rally was organized well, but this wasn’t organized as

District Service Project
Jeremy explains how it is really hard to do a district wide service Instead each
club should be paired up with a club from a different division and then we shall
have the whole district have the same project.
Same with the fundraising project. It’ll be too hard to do come together. Instead
we should have the same fundraising project over the whole district. It’ll still show
a sense of community.
