Recovered Article Details
As part of routine security check, RPF staff of Chennai division
recovered many unclaimed articles and valuable items from trains and
railway premises regularly. The articles recovered at Chennai Central and
Chennai Egmore stations are handed over to the Platform Inspectors of these
stations. The articles recovered from other stations are handed over to the
Station Manager/Station Master of the concerned stations.
The Platform Inspector and Station Master normally keep these articles
up to one week. If there is no claimant for the articles, these items are sent to
the following address.
The Chief Goods Supervisor,
Lost Property Office,
Salt Cotaurs, Chennai- 112.
The items sent to Lost Property Office/Salt Cotaurs are kept up to three
months depending upon the nature of the items deposited. The passenger
who have left their belongings/Valuables shall contact Platform
Inspector/Station Manager & The Chief Goods Supervisor, Lost Property
Office, Salt Cotaurs, Chennai to explain the identity of the lost property and
get back their belongings.
The following table indicates the details of the articles recovered by
RPF and handed over to the proper authorities. The passenger who have left
their valuable articles in trains/Station premises can approach the concerned
authorities to get back their articles by mentioning the correct identity.
