The Undergraduate Student Association Council (USAC) is the officially recognized student voice of undergraduate students at UCLA to the campus administration, faculty, and outside community. It is comprised of thirteen offices and commissions and aims to serve the UCLA community through advocacy, education, and programming. Elected by the undergraduate student body, the officers and commissioners of USAC work to enrich the undergraduate experience by bringing relevant issues and programs to the student body. USAC is a way to make change on campus. What are General Representatives? There are three General Representatives elected to USAC each year. The General Representatives are responsible for representing the collective interests of the student body on the Undergraduate Students Association Council. Additionally, the General Representatives shall act as a link between the student body and the administration and as a resource to aid student organizations in programming and advocacy endeavors. General Representatives are also responsible for initiating and pursuing legislation and programming in accordance to the needs of the student population, where such legislation and programming does not normally fall into the functional duties delegated to other USAC members or related offices. Committee Staff Positions Available for the General Representative 1 Office Committee Staff Members Committee staff members are key in the functioning of the Office and working with Directors to complete platforms. - Attend weekly staff meetings, project committee meetings, quarterly retreats - Assist respective Project Director with progress of platforms - Bring energy and new ideas to the Office! DiverseCITY Tours Committee Staff - Coordinate with students groups to provide free student-guided trips to LA communities - Plan student visits to LA museums, festivals, events, and sightseeing spots - Plan cultural, religious, or environmental awareness themed-tours USAC GR1 App | 3 Resources Director Committee Staff - Work with Communications Technology Services and Office of Residential Life to expand Wi-Fi in classrooms, residential dorms and lounges - Work with Student Government Accounting Office to provide free copies for students orgs to flyer more efficiently - Coordinate with the Career Center to make workshops more affordable and accessible on campus Charitable Causes Committee Staff - Sponsor awareness campaigns around charitable causes - Work with the General Representative to coordinate “Undie Running for a Cause” with administration - Coordinate collection of pre-undie run clothes dropped at the start line to be donated to charity Campus Awareness Committee Staff - Host social justice and inspirational speakers - Sponsor "Ally Appreciation Day" to celebrate the roles of allies in our campaigns - Sponsor LGBTQ and women’s awareness events - Coordinate with the Student Welfare Commission to put on gender and sexuality health fairs Outreach Committee Staff - Work with the General Representative to institutionalize the General Representative Advisory Council (GRAC) - Outreach for Hill representatives from each residential building - Outreach for academic representatives from North and South Campus including the School of Letters and Science, Nursing, Engineering, Arts and Architecture, etc. - Outreach to Greek representatives including from Multi-Interest Greek Council (MIGC), Interfraternity Council (IFC), Panhellenic Council, etc. - Outreach to organizational representatives including from Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD), etc. USAC GR1 App | 4 USAC General Representative 1 Office 2009- 2010 Committee Staff Application Personal Information Name: Student ID#: E-Mail: Current Year: Birthday: Cell Phone: Expected Graduation Date (Qtr/Yr): 2009-2010 Local Address (Dorm or Apt): Major and/or Minor: Organization Affiliations (if any): Please list the committees you are applying for in ranked order of preference: 1. 2. 3. 4.
