Office:
Committee Staff Application
“Think Radically. Act Rationally. Live Passionately.”
Hey you! Thank you for expressing interest in working in YOUR student
government and taking the time to check out my Staff Application. Let me just
say that next year is going to be amazing! I am absolutely excited to be a
General Representative since this position allows for some of the most
flexibility in USAC.
The mission of the General Representative 1 Office is to:
- Encourage student and civic engagement by getting students out of their
“bubble” and comfort zone
- Promote a diverse and affordable college experience by making
university resources more available to students
- Raise awareness and break down common stereotypes about various
issues and causes
- Give more of a voice to students and organizations by connecting groups
to student government
I am truly excited about accomplishing these platforms, getting to know each
and every one of you, bonding and having fun, and making tangible change
together at UCLA.
Please don’t hesitate to call or email me if you ever have any questions. See
you soon!
Sincerely,
Jason Tengco

What is the Undergraduate Student Association Council?
The Undergraduate Student Association Council (USAC) is the officially
recognized student voice of undergraduate students at UCLA to the campus
administration, faculty, and outside community. It is comprised of thirteen
offices and commissions and aims to serve the UCLA community through
advocacy, education, and programming. Elected by the undergraduate
student body, the officers and commissioners of USAC work to enrich the
undergraduate experience by bringing relevant issues and programs to the
student body. USAC is a way to make change on campus.
What are General Representatives?
There are three General Representatives elected to USAC each year. The
General Representatives are responsible for representing the collective
interests of the student body on the Undergraduate Students Association
Council. Additionally, the General Representatives shall act as a link between
the student body and the administration and as a resource to aid student
organizations in programming and advocacy endeavors. General
Representatives are also responsible for initiating and pursuing legislation
and programming in accordance to the needs of the student population, where
such legislation and programming does not normally fall into the functional
duties delegated to other USAC members or related offices.
